It's the rumored name of the new Pirate themed restaurant coming soon to the old Veranda site across from the Swiss Family Treehouse in the Magic Kingdom.

Here's a copy of the rumor from Screamscape
The latest rumors about the Pirate themed restaurant confirm that it is being planned for the old Veranda restaurant site across from the Swiss Family Treehouse and the working name is Tortuga. Going along with all the Pirate and Princess buzz this year, it seems Disney management has realized that while they have the Royal Court dining area in the castle to appeal to the Princess crowd, they need a good Pirate themed restaurant to lure in the boys.

They need a restaurant in that area. And a Pirate themed restaurant would rock!

I am soo going there all dressed up, I don't care if people stare!

Didn't they always have a pirate-themed restaurant right across from PotC that they could never keep open year-round?

I believe it's called El Pirata y El Perico, but I've never seen it open. Is this new one going to be sit down or fast food?

It used to be open pretty regularly before 2001; I think it was one of the post 9/11 cutbacks they made that they figured out they didn't need to add back. Last time I saw it open was Summer 04 (though I've only been once since then).

A new pirate-themed restaurant sounds great though. I'll be in the female pirate line with Esmeralda. Yar! Image

Hopefully Disney will do this with there pockets opened!! It would be great if they did something to rival the restaurant across from Dueling Dragons in IOA! Not just fast food but someplace you could get a good meal.

That was one of my favorite names for a Disney restaurant, although I have to admit the food was not so great. Any idea what the new joint will serve?

Crash soup, I hope?

I've not heard anything on offererings - I'm hopeing it will actually be a sit down table service establishment. MK could use a really use a new table service place.

I agree a sit down table service is very much needed at WDW. And please no burgers! :mickey:

Maybe it will be something akin to the Blue Bayou. Wait, scratch that. There is no New Orleans Square in Disney World. So maybe it will be more attuned to the Caribbean? Or just pirates? I'm intrigued!
