I hope it's not Shatner (awesomely campy as he is). I'd never hear what was going on because I'd crack up through the whole thing.

I'd guess Stewart too, though Nimoy would fit well with the Cronkite/Irons 'feel', I think. Be interesting to see if this rumor comes to pass.

I would bet its Patrick Stewart...

He has a great voice, I have no issues with him being the new "voice" of Spaceship Earth

How about James Earle Jones. Even though he is not space related, he does have a great deep voice. William Shatner would be great too.

I have to go with Nimoy or Jones on this one. I need the deeper voices. If Stewart did it I would think of Nightmare Before Christmas where he Narrated. Irons' voice worked but it was higher than I liked.

To me a voice that narrates stuff through the ages needs to be forceful, and in my opinion deeper voices are more forceful.

And who is more forceful than a Klingon? (Besides Chuck Norris) Nobody!

Although I very much like Shatner, Nimoy, and Stewart, I would rather have someone that you wouldn't immediately recognize.

EDIT: The quote didn't work right. Huh.

Stewart sounds like a good choice, although George Takei would be tremendous.

While I like Takei as well, of all the names being tossed around, I would cheer loudest and longest for Leonard Nimoy.

I wasn't aware that Patrick Stewart narrated NBC. it certainly doesn't sound like him n the beginning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz2Ho62dVr0

I love the Jeremy Irons narration and I feel that the Walter Cronkite narration pales in comparison to it.

If they're going to use someone from Star Trek, it has to be Patrick Stewart; he just has one of those epic voices. I could probably live with Leonard Nimoy, but William Shatner is completely wrong. Someone mentioned Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi on TNG) and I think she would be refreshing as the first female narrator of Spaceship Earth (she has a very soothing and calming voice in my opinion). Someone also mentioned Majel Barrett, and while I see where it makes sense, I'm not feeling it.

Yep, I'm a Star Trek geek.

I read on another thread that a voice from Star Trek: Voyager would be part of one of the new post-show exhibits. This is interesting. My vote is for Kate Mulgrew.

She would be awesome!! I've listen to some talking books with her doing the reading and she has a wonderful voice. She'd get my vote, although I'd have a better visual thing going on if they used Jerry Ryan. God she's HOT!!!!

I have the album for the movie and the movie and it sounds like him. That you tube one sounded a bit distorted. I will recheck tonight and let you know.
