That is Mickey's Retreat.
Few tips. Get to registration before 9 am and you will be done very quickly and you can actually make requests for room size and placement.
Make friends with the people in line...if you request the same size room you will be near each other or in the same apartment.
Sea World you can buy discounted tickets at Disney for $56 (I'm going in 2 weeks)
Universal bring 120 and you can get a restricted annual pass for both parks (parking isn't free and the block out dates you WILL work at Disney)
Big question is, during your interview...which park did you mention as your favorite? which attractions. Can you speak in front of groups? all those questions determine where you work.

I know for a fact that I didn't mention my favorite park, I wish I did or else I would have mentioned EPCOT.
I wanted to get the question of what is your favorite memory? Cus I would have said getting my autograph from Figment/Dreamfinder (there is a story to it) but the quetion wasn't asked.
Like I've said before, with Lion, she got MGM cus she was a TV/Radio manager, maybe because I'm a computer major that I will get EPCOT, possibily Future World

Stardust: Sorry I missed your earlier post in another thread. Um as for this thread, it's mostly about me being a custodial at MGM. I worked a lot closing shifts so I didn't have time to really party or visit other places(Seaworld, the beach, etc...), unless it was my day off.
I'm pretty sure that you'll have more time than I did for other leisure activities.
And wow, does this thread make me want to go back and do another 'internship'.

The days are slowly getting closer and each day my smile is only growing bigger. I bought a lot of stuff for the room (like new alarm clock, poster) and bought a hard drive/network card for my modem. I just can't take it any longer haha
Well I figured I'd ask Lion and anyone else, how much did you pack for your trip and with how many suitcases. I know you're a girl Lion so it might be different needing more clothes but I'll take any comments on what to pack and what not to pack (yeah i know the website says alot) but I like personal tips/recommendations from people as well.

When I went, I was obviously restricted in how much I could take on the plane, so I only really took the essential stuff.. Clothes (don't forget your smart clothes for Traditions/training days!), bathroom stuff, laptop, etc. and bought everything else when I got there.
You won't need to take anything for the kitchen, since all that is provided. You may or may not want to take your own bedding, all you get is a bed and matress.. If you can fit it in with your stuff, probably best to take your own, or again, buy it when you get there.
Probably best to not take *too* much.. The rooms aren't *that* big, and remember you will be sharing a bedroom with someone else. You do get a locker you can stick stuff in, you'll need a padlock for that..
Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything else at the moment.. If you have any questions, I'll try and answer them, though
Andy.

Let's see....
I packed two suitcases worth of clothes: one of them a medium sized and another a large sized suitcase. I did my program late winter/spring, so it was really cold when I got down there, hence heavy jackets and pants. You can skip the heavy stuff. I ended up not even wearing some pairs of pants even once in favor of shorts most of the time.
You'll probably end up going to wal-mart or target on your first day(s) and buying accessories for your room and bathroom, and to a lesser extent- the kitchen.
You're basically furnishing your place to your liking/satisfaction to survive for a few months. Talk it over with your roommates as to who will buy what(toilet paper, soap), and what things you're willing to share(liking cleaning supplies)
I suggest getting a small box for your own food to keep in your room. I kept some canned and packed food under my bed. This way no one steals it, and can't claim "oh, it was yours?"
Yeah, there is a locker in the closet; I used it mainly to keep my checks and things in. I kept my suitcase inside the closet for storage, while my parents took home the other.
I know this sounds dirty, but a couple of my friends over at Vista went in the garbage on the first day they moved in and took items for their own place. One got a desk and a chair; it beats having to spend extra money.
When I was packing, I swore I brought a LOT of stuff, but when I saw my roommates suitcases, it was like
She totally owned our closet from that day until she left.
Hope that helps.

Well one thing that does help me is that I already know my roommate, they have this new roommate notification thing where disney can pair you up with someone random and you can talk beforehand or you can add someone you know who's going down the same day & same sex/age (21+ or not).
So we've already discussed what each of us are bringing, since he's driving, he's bringing the TV, DVD Recorder while I'll be bringing the video games and other stuff besides my clothes.
I'm in a rush somewhere but I will discuss more later this week.
Thanks everybody

That's really nifty. How long has this been around? I lucked out with my roommates (they were awesome, and we had no problems), but I would have liked to have had this system to get to know someone before I went.packwingfn wrote:Well one thing that does help me is that I already know my roommate, they have this new roommate notification thing where disney can pair you up with someone random and you can talk beforehand or you can add someone you know who's going down the same day & same sex/age (21+ or not).

That is interesting, but I dunno... kinda takes the surprise out of things. But then I guess people's true colors come out after a while.
I lived with two Caucasian girls, two african american girls and one girl from japan. I'm chinese-american myself, so it felt almost like a non-coincidence.

It just started now for the Fall Program. I met my roommate on this Livejournal Community, we have over 100 members now. We have special "livejournal" chats for us to get to know each other. I'm pretty close with around 6 different people (girls & boys) who I can't wait to meet down in August
I've even met 2 people already who happened to live close by to me...One girl who lived 5 minutes away from my house.
Yesterday was the first arrival date for the Fall Advantage people and one of my friends is working at Test Track, I can't wait to work down there and know all these different people who i've been talking in the chats forever working all the different rides and shops. I'll be like I know you, I know you etc etc
