yep, they do. at least when we were there in December, all the parks were open the full 3 hours during the evening EMH. I don't recall that any park was open less than the 3 hours. AK, in particular I know, closed at 5 the week we were there, and on the EMH night, it was open until 8. I don't think the Safari was open much past when it got dark (around 6:30 or so), but most everything else (that was not an animal exhibit) was open.

you can get the details on hours of operation (for EMH), as well as what days the parks are open (and if it's an early AM opening or late PM close) right on the WDW page:
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/ca ... cHoursPage

right now (as I type this), it'll give you the dates until September.

Is Everest open during extra magic hours? Last I heard it wasn't.

What "open upto 3 hours later" really means is "open 3 hours later unless we have something else going on like a buy out for a company party." I guess some marketing person decided that second one was too wordy.

And as js3901 said, AK the puts the Animals away at dusk, I guess they don't get a park hours schedule. :) Or maybe it's just they know it's dinner time when the sun goes down.

yes, Everest is open at night during the EMH. It's a weird experience riding it when it's dark, as it's not just dark when you're IN the mountain, any more. the only draw back is that you can see the lights that light up the mountain while riding (especially up the big lift). That and the camera flashes blind you when they go off cause your eyes kinda get accustomed to the dark.

AK, as a whole, seems kinds weird when you're there after dark. seeing the ToL and EE all lit up...

I didn't think so, I like the night life, I like to boogie. Of course I was looking at it from a photographer's point of view. To me everything looks better at night in any of the parks. That is when things are lite up just right.

I agree. It's like a whole new park(s) after dark with all of the lights and marquees. My favorite Disney park night time experience would be MK during the MNSSHP. I can't say that I have ever been in AK after dark however. Like others have said, it always seems to close at 5 when I'm there. Then again, I don't use EMH either because I normally don't stay on site.

it just seems weird to a point. walking through a park and riding rides I know only by day. It's weird seeing it all when it's dark...

and I agree when it comes to the night shots. I LOVE some of those pics you took while down there. I'm still working through some of them to see how they work as desktop wallpapers...

I really like the ToL at night. It makes excellent photo opporunities lit up against the dark sky. The animals sculted into it are more visible at night too becuase of the way it's lit up. Here's a great picture my dad took from the bridge to Africa:

I think AK is the best park to be at during the night. Even cheap carnival land (AKA Dinorama) looks great at night.

Wow, nice. I actually have never been inside DAK at nighttime. The latest I've ever stayed was around 5 or 6, and it was only dark because of an approaching storm. It was dark enough for me to realize, "wow it's dark, how weird."

I would love to see the park at night though just for a different feel of atmosphere. It's also weird to be in a park without anyone else there very late at night; it's creepy, but neat.

DAK is totally enchanting at night - the lighting is spectacular and Everest is a fun ride in the dark!

Dr. Ravenscroft took some truly amazing night shots at AK. Maybe he'll post a couple of them...
