Not like most will miss it this time of year as it's pretty cold, or at least not warm enough to comfortably ride it.

I defnitely missed it. I just got back and it felt weird not riding Splash Mountain and it was warm all week. It was in the 80s and sunny all week.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Yeah, I would hate to miss Splash Mountain on any trip but I probably wont make another trip until fall now so it should be done by then. I remember being at WDW one year when they were painting the outside that red sandy color and sprucing things up. I thought it was impressive that Disney took the time and care to even have the workers dress in SM attire (overalls and straw hats, etc.)

I think that refurbishing splash mountain once a year helps keep this attraction as one a ride that can go through time. If they would have done the same with some other attraction that came and left, we might still be able to ride 20k for example.
Another thing is that it helps keep the attraction as gorgeous as it can be.
It's a small price to pay to get a great looking attraction.

Its all about preventative maintenance. I'm glad they are doing preventative maintenance rather then waiting for the ride to really look shabby before they do anything. I would say close a ride down every year or two to do major repairs.wess_80 wrote:I think that refurbishing splash mountain once a year helps keep this attraction as one a ride that can go through time. I still remember the first time I rode SM thinking that it was over after the drop into the Briar Patch. Boy was I surprised when it opened up into a grand finale of fun! You get it all with Splash. The drop, the show, the music and great atmosphere.

By looking at the picture it just goes to show you how disney goes the extra mile. If it were anyother place the construction workers would not be dressed in the proper clothes to fit the area. Their view would be like, "This is a construction project nobody cares what they look like as long as they get the project done." But not Disney! Thats why they are the Best!
I was their when it was dry they did not have the window on the WDWRR blocked so you could see the finale all dry. guests could see that workers were cleaning the boat with all the charectors on it. From the walkway all the boats were lined up . They had also put a block on the flume so that no one would fall I assume. Kind of intersting to look at.
