They took out Alien Encounter for Stitch? What were they thinking? I've been on the AE ride when I was 14 and there were parts that had me screaming cause they fooled me into thinking the alien was breathing down my neck. When it was over, I would see young kids still freaking out. The fake blood was also there (water). I thought it was the best "ride" in the park. Is there any audio for it on this site? That would be nice.

I recorded it the last time I was down there (December 2006). Subsonic hasn't put it in the playlist yet. maybe he will with the next batch of additions.

What they did mostly was they took the Alien out for Stitch. I don't remember what all they changed from the alien to stitch but it was mostly a rethemeing.BuDz211 wrote:They took out Alien Encounter for Stitch?

I'm sure all the changes had to do with Stitch's contract with Disney. He has some sort of exclusive rights to first refusal when the part requires a being of alien origin. Same sort of clause that Jiminy has for narration.

I listened to Alien Encounter yesterday after seeing the link. The greeting robot was Tim Curry! This site rocks!
I don't know if BuDz211 is asking for the Stitch track or AE. I'm showing that we have AEjs3901 wrote:is this for me, telling me you added it? cause it shows the AE track, not Stitch...subsonic wrote:http://www.subsonicradio.com/track/info ... ck_id=4669

Personally, Stitch annoys the hell out of me, so I wouldn't care if he languished in the Disney vault forever without receiving his own attraction.dinosaur33 wrote:The problem with Stitch is that he isn't meant to be scary. Trying to give Stitch the job of a blood thirsty alien just didn't work well. They should have just kept Alien Encounter, and given Stitch a new ride where he would fit in.
As far as I understand, the attraction was changed for two reasons: 1) To make Tomorrowland more "kid friendly," renovating a truly scary attraction into something smaller children could enjoy. 2) Incorporate more SYNERGY, by removing an attraction with no movie or TV tie-ins, and replacing it with a character who has appeared both on the big screen and on TV.

That's the problem, they are making attractions too kid friendly and not family friendly. Walt's dream was a place where kids of all ages could have fun. Disney has stopped thinking about what would be good for everybody. A child doesn't need an attraction based on a character to be entertained by it. As a child I loved going on Adventures Through Inner Space and Mission to Mars. Those attractions fit Tomorrowland perfectly, entertained all ages, and weren't based on a character.kgmadorin wrote:As far as I understand, the attraction was changed for two reasons: 1) To make Tomorrowland more "kid friendly," renovating a truly scary attraction into something smaller children could enjoy. 2) Incorporate more SYNERGY, by removing an attraction with no movie or TV tie-ins, and replacing it with a character who has appeared both on the big screen and on TV.
I DO think that Alien Encounter was too scary for children and could have been toned down. But AE's themeing fit quite nicely and Stitch is a complely unacceptable replacement.

I agree with you 100%, sub. Look at the classics from the "Golden Age" of Imagineering, such as Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion. They've always been two of the most popular attractions in the park, and that was long before the big screen adaptation of either one.subsonic wrote: That's the problem, they are making attractions too kid friendly and not family friendly. Ahhh, but today we're lost in the short-attention span era of video games and the internet. Synergy is upon us, and the commercialization of the parks will continue for a long time to come.

This is not a rhetorical question...I don't know anything about Stitch or his attraction. Is there anything at all futuristic about him/it?subsonic wrote:But AE's themeing fit quite nicely and Stitch is a complely unacceptable replacement.
I know extraterrestrials are technically sci-fi, but if they arrive in the present, there's nothing Tomorrowland about it. (Just like Buzz Lightyear or Monsters, but whatever.)

really, no. about the only thing that makes it futuristic in any way would be either the "laser cannons" that "guard" the animatronic Stitch, or the spaceship flying around in the preshow.Captain Schnemo wrote:This is not a rhetorical question...I don't know anything about Stitch or his attraction.
