more than likely they are remotely controlled by computer. either from DACS or from the control booth for the castle shows (DACS would be my guess)

I believethat the "control booth" is actually on top of one of the small buildings right outside of the castle. the one that's right on the edge of Main St. and Liberty Square. Dr. Ravenscroft pointed it out to me on our trip in December (I could be slightly off with the location, but it's in that general direction)

That stuff is the reason I love Disney so much, I love how they use the latest technologies and hide the fact that they do. I also love how they get the job done in such a manner that usually the average guest doesn't notice it.rdeacon wrote:You people... control towers, romote control in the hands... BAH HUMBUG

I have tons of pics of some of this hidden stuff, I'm a lighting and sound guy myself. I have done all manner of setup for shows and I have to say that I have learned a lot from Disney without them even showing me the stuff. I tend not to watch shows but watch the stuff that makes the show work. JS can tell you, during the Indiana Jones show I wanted to be next to the booth to see what they had and how they used it. Also the control board for one of the shows out in DL and got some good pics of it to boot. And now I can safely say that I want what they have.

i think that is absolutely amazing! It makes the characters come to life more then they have ever before. the blinking as great to, as a kid i would wonder why they didn't blink with such big eyes.

The new heads are very cool.
When I was just down there in March, I watched the castle show and they really do add to the overall illusion. The only down side is now when you see them in the parade, and their mouths don't move you miss it. You immediately notice the difference.
Kudos to the imagineers on the heads. Lets hope they roll them out to the parades soon.
