L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante closing permanently!

L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante is currently set to close on August 31, 2007, and will be replaced by a new Italian restaurant - no details on what the replacement will be.

Enjoy it this summer one final time - the dessert sampler is amazing!

Sadly, I never got to enjoy this restaurant and won't be back before it closes. Still, if they come up with an attraction or a different type of restaurant (perhaps not sit down?) I'd definitely look forward to that!

The "Alfredo Resturaunt" (along with the san angel) was a vacation tradition for us. They had awesome italian food. Hopefully the replacement will be just as good, if not better.

I ate at Alfredos once. It was pretty good, although I remember thinking it wasn't that special. Looks like I'm in the minority, though for sure.

I have to agree. I live about a 30 minute walk from the North End in Boston and Alfredo's was good but nothing spectacular. The thing that really killed it was the price. I realize everything at a park is expensive but 20 bucks for a plate of pasta is just crazy...

my friend and I ate there in 2002, and I agree - nothing spectacular. I;ve had better-tasting food at Fazoli's (fast food italian place - http://www.fazolis.com/ ). at Alfredo's, they gave us some bread to go with the meal. I asked the waitress (an italian national) what kind of bread it was. she had to go in the back and ask the baker what it was called (it's ciabatta bread, which for the record I knew already (I am a certified Pastry Chef), but I was confirming my suspicions). I was surprised that she didn;t know a bread made in her own country.

hopefully the new restaurant going in there will be better...

As long as they're closing the restaurant, I think they ought to fill it with a gondola attraction taking us on a tour of Italy. Maybe they could even tuck a Lady and the Tramp scene in to a dark type ride.

Is there anything located upstairs in the building? I've never been inside and was curious. I do hope they make sure some type of food remains at Italy though. They'd be the only country without a restaurant.

I'm upset that it will be one place that I have always wanted to eat, but it unfortunately looks like I will never get to experience it.

Awww what a bummer! Alfredo's was a great place. Fantastic atmosphere and the food was good too. Hopefully it's replacement will be a worthy successor and not another fast food (or DVC) kiosk. Salute Alfredo's.

It is interesting to hear that they are closing it, only to replace it by another restaurant. They are just replacing its self. They must be doing it like they did with the old "land restaurant" closing it to change things around.

We ate there in Sept and it was our most dissappointing meal of the trip. Loved the roaming minstrel (who sang to me!) and our waiter was a little hottie. Probably jailbait, though....

We might make it in Aug. for the first time. I was never too excited to be there myself. It just didn't look to have a disney feel to it..

Well, it wasn't a Disney-owned restaurant so maybe Disney thinks it can create a great Italian restaurant on its own, which I'm sure it can. Or maybe Alfredo's of Rome wants to focus on its new restaurant in Las Vegas instead of continuing one in Orlando. Or maybe they're bringing in Olive Garden.

Who knows?

One of my greatest WDW memories lies with this restaurant. DW and I were in Disney with my parents (for their first and only time), and our waiter just made this a magnificent occasion. He sat with as and exchanged banter with my dad in his native tongue. When we remarked the waiter looked like our cousin, he sat between my parents, placing his arms around both and said in broken English "I yamma you cousin," and posed for a picture. It was truly memorable.

The restaurant was nice, but I never thought it was one of WDW's best. However, their namesake dish was absolutely unbelievable! Anyone who loves REAL Fettuccine Alfredo should try to book a meal there before they close. You'll find true bliss diving into that steaming pile of pasta, cheese, and butter. Mmmmmm.
