I too watched that video clip over and over and I agree that that kid was trying to pull off "Tigger's" head. I think the cast member freaked out (cast members can be fired on the spot for removing any part of their costume in public). It's also really hard to see out of those things.

I don't think for one second Tigger "punched" the kid, it was a protective reaction, any one of us would have freaked the same way.

... and not for anything, but it didn't even look like this teenager (not little kid) got bopped that hard. Punk.

I once got knocked on my rear end by "King Louie" from the Jungle Book. He didn't know his own strength ... I got up, brushed myself off and laughed. I didn't go looking for a payday. Some folks can be so dishonest.

Beats me but I hope the family doesnt get anything. Disney should really fight this in court. But they'll prolly do/did some out of court settlement

I wish Disney would fight too, but they probably won't. I'm sure Disney is sued more often then we realize (by dishonest folks looking for $$$), it's just this case got press and lots of it.

Disney probably has a standard amount they throw at people to make them go away. The family doesn't have to accept it and they can pursue it in court, but if their lawyer had half a brain he would take them to just take the cash and shut up.

They really don't have much of a case. Any judge would see that kid was trying to remove Tigger's head.

Plus, Disney probably has the best lawyers, that family would be toast.

I worked at Busch Gardens for a while and it always just seems like it's easier to pay the families off then fight it. Which is sad because this kid is definitly in the wrong.

it looks to me like the kid was doing something he shouldn't and he reacted by trying to catch his arm and turn away, but ended up catching the kid in the face. At any rate I can hardly believe that it was a truly aggressive act. But thats what we get for living in a society where suing is the latest and greatest get rich strategy. It's a shame, and i have to agree, that fox loves to grab onto little dumb things and take it way way way out of proportion. Considering they cater to the right wing, suck it up and be a man/tort reform party, its surprising the things that they get fired up about.

Well I have an update Got it from Distant Creations
Tigger, the Walt Disney World character, is no longer in the cross-hairs of the State Attorney’s Office.

No charges will be filed against 31-year-old Michael J. Fedelem, the employee playing Winnie the Pooh’s bouncy friend, the State Attorney’s Office announced today.

Prosecutors reviewed the complaint that Tigger punched a 14-year-old during a home-video session at Disney-MGM Studios last month.

I kinda wish they would've said more on this issue. why the case was dropped and such. Maybe there's the full story somewhere else...

Edit: Here is the story from the local NBC affiliate down in Orlando...

I hope the guy doesn't lose his job over this (provided he still wants it). As a mother of teenagers who works in a high school, I know just how obnoxious kids this age can be, and how some parents are incapable of thinking their darling child could be held responsible for anything. The principal and teachers at my school are always getting calls from outraged parents who feel their baby has been wronged, and it's often thought to be easier to give in than to fight them. I have a feeling the parents in this case are trying to make their kid out to be more of an innocent victim than he really is.

jd3921fl wrote:ORLANDO -- Criminal charges will not be filed against a Disney employee accused of hitting a teenager while in costume as the character ``Tigger,'' authorities said.

The State Attorney's Office announced Thursday that it will not press charges against Michael J. Fedelem. Prosecutors made the decision after reviewing a complaint from New Hampshire resident Jerry Monaco.

Monaco videotaped his 14-year-old son, Jerry Jr., posing with a costumed Fedelem at Disney-MGM Studios in January. At some point a confrontation occurred between the boy and Fedelem. The father later watched the videotape and said Fedelem intentionally hit his son ``on or about the head,'' Orange County Sheriff officials said.

Park officials suspended Fedelem, 31, while the investigation was being conducted. A telephone call placed to Disney officials by The Associated Press early Friday to find out Fedelem's employment status was not immediately returned

How can anyone stand there, having watched the video and honestly say that "Fedelem intentionally hit" the guy " on or about the head". Its clear the dad condones the teenagers actions, and thinks he can make a quick bick out of it.
The whole family ought to be banned from Disney for behaving as they have!!!!!!!

I agree Sarah Turp. They should be banned because this is unacceptable behavior. The family should be ashamed of themselves.

What also bothers me is accidents happen yet we now live in a world where people try and make money off of it. People like that need to get out of the gene pool.
