I realize the bells are a perfect example of "plussing," but come on. That was a bad, bad idea.

The thought was "let's put in real bells that people can actually ring, it will be immersive and realistic."

What it seems like is "let's put in real bells that the annoying kid who's just reached the 5 foot mark can reach to annoy everyone all the way up to the museum!"

Laurie, good news! You don't have to decide because I'm going to use my Mickey Mouse Mind Maker Upper. Ready? Should you try it? And the answer is... "well...why not?"

Wait... to be sure I'll ask agian. The answer is..."You betcha".

Well, there you go.

Wow, this is one amazing ride. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Yeti in person. The theming is outstanding and the Yeti himself is a work of Imagineering art. The only problem is I get sea sick pretty easily and speeding around curves backwards in the dark really threw me for a loop. I wasn't feeling too good for the rest of the day. I'm so glad I went on it once, though and still love the whole area!
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

I liked Everest :) The backwards bit really felt to me like we went upside-down-over-stylee, but it doesn't.. And yes, those bells in the queue get a bit annoying after the first few minutes :)

There were more, easier to reach bells when it first opened. Consider yourself luck if you go now.

I think the height requirement is 48 inches. Isn't that around 5 or 6? I don't think it's scary just exhilerating.

I just got back from Disney with my girlfriend and her family. Her nephew who is 5 loves Roller Coasters but cried once he saw the "realistic" yeti and refused to go on the coaster again for the rest of the trip.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Rain upon that planet Earth. And they rain ... and rain ... and rain. The deluge.

Okay, so maybe not exhilerating but scary. The Yeti looks quite amazing! I can see how it might scare a child.

Everest is great. Rode it for the first time December 06. My first ride was the day we arrived. Took a midnight flyer, check into AK Lodge at 8:00am and was at AK Park by 9:00am. I screamed so loud my first ride that I lost my voice. AMAZING, I could see AK Lodge, the tree of life from the top of the mountain. This ride is exhilarating.

I loved the ride and definitely consider it exhilarating. I completely forgot that there was a backward part, but luckily didn't lose my stomach when it came. The yeti was very impressive. After watching the History Channel "Modern Marvels" about WDW I made sure to get a good look at him. He really does look as if he'd spent several years terrorizing people on the real mountain!

I couldn't agree with you more on the bells, MansionButler! I was about ready to kill some kids by the end of that portion of the queue the times I was in line. You say that it's gotten better since early on. Do you mean since about June last year? God, I hope so!

In spite of the bells, I loved Everest when I rode it (my wife and I rode the ride 6 times during the closing minutes of the park one evening). Have I rode more intense coasters? Absolutely. But then, no one goes to Disney for the intense rides, but rather for the immersive experiences and stories that the immagineers develop for the rides. And for a roller coaster (lets face it, it's pretty darn tough to develop much of a plot for a fast moving ride), Disney did an outstanding job with theme/story development for Everest.

I wasn't there in June, but in April or May there were still a ton of bells.

The bells were certainly there in November when I last rode Everest.

Andy.
