Pink Castle

Post by MansionButler » Jan Fri 19, 2007 5:58 am

I'm some what surprised I can't find a discussion about the fact that our caslte is now pink.

Has anyone even noticed? Does anyone have any thoughts?

I liked white. . .

I noticed and vaguely mentioned it in the thread about when I worked there.

I think I preferred it when it was white, to be honest.

You can (just about, if you look hard enough) see the colour changing here: http://www.andrewpoole.org.uk/disney/ph ... get63.html (which was taken in Late October/Early November whilst they were still painting it...)

I noticed the pale pink color change on my cousin's pics from his recent trip and I thought it was just the way the sun was reflecting off the castle, I didn't realize it was the new color for the castle. I don't really know how I feel about the change until I see it in person though. I did read in some imagineering book that there was a reason FL's castle was painted white and not pink like Disneyland's (something about the FL sky color), however, that reason eludes me.

I haven't seen in it person yet.

I'll hold my judgment till my March trip.

Pink castle? Somehow I didn't notice it. Probably because I was so used to it being dressed up for the 50th.

I never noticed it either when Dr. Ravenscroft and I were there in December. if it's there it's very subtle.

It's subtle, but it's certainly there. I looked at it a couple times and it took me a while to figure out what was off. Once I realized it was pink, it was obvious (like a seeing eye picture). It's probably more obvious if you'd been looking at the castle every day for 5 months.

I'm honestly not a fan of it.

It's definitley very subtle and not that noticeable. I miss the bling, to be honest.

I know wikipedia is not always right, but here's what it has to say about the new color scheme:

"The next reported re-decoration of Cinderella Castle will occur in late September 2006. Specific details of the decorations have not yet been revealed. Though it seems that it is being designed the same as the Tokyo Disneyland Castle, with the rooftops having been painted a darker blue and a small portion of the castle is now notably beige."

( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinderella ... ecorations )

May be just someone trying to start a rumor or it could be the reason for the color change. Whatever the case, it's obviously being influenced by the TDL castle.

I'm not a fan of pink, and I've always thought the castle was beautiful just the way it is. The change is pretty subtle, so it might be OK. Another excuse to visit WDW to check it out.

Does anyone know if there's a reason for painting it pink?
I know that the castle in Disneyland Paris is painted pink as it gives a much warmer, sunnier looking picture against the often rather grey French skies. I dont really see there being the same problem in Florida somehow, but maybe they found that people preferred the colour over in France and so decided to copy it?

I was going to say that it looks more tan than pink to me. The Wikipedia article sort of backs that up. Anyway, I kinda like it.

I always thought the white of the castle looked brilliant against a blue Florida sky in the sunlight. The pink just comes off as kind of dull.

Hopefully they learned their lesson from the last one. I still can't believe someone thought that was a good way to spend money.
