This Monday Walt disney World's most popular attraction celebrates a milestone this Monday. Space Mountain turns 32 years old. The WDW Mountain is the first of 5 mountains that opened on January 15th 1975. Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland is the first Indoor Roller Coaster in the world. Since then there are hundreds of Space Mountain clones at many theme parks worldwide. Back in 2000 & 2004 I got to see what the inside of Space Mountain looks like with the lights on. I was amazed at how Disney put a Roller Coaster in a Building that is 183 feet high and 300 feet in diameter. Back in 2004 my recent visit to WDW I tried to take a picture of the inside of Space Mountain with the Lights on, All I got was the lights not the track.
HAPPY 32th BIRTHDAY WDW's SPACE MOUNTAIN!

Makes me feel ancient...
I also got to see SM once with the lights on. We were on the Peoplemover and it went through SM during a period when it was down for rehab. It took some of the mystique away for me, but was still kind of cool to get a glimpse behind the magic.

Happy birthday to SM! Hard to tell it was almost 32 years old when I rode it last week...
