Disney DVD

Ok so I've been checking Best Buy and electronic stores all morning. I want to get something really neat Disney wise for Christmas in terms of possibly a collecters edition DVD of the vintage cartoons and stuff. I was even thinking about getting a Disneyland cd or something but I can't decide. Do you guys know any DVD's that would have like the vintage cartoons or any soundtracks that are worth buying?

J/W cause I have searched and the only one I found that really intrigued me was the Mickey Mouse 1939 - Today Collectors Edition 2 Disc but I don't know... I'm leaving it up to see what you guys think.

I really like the Walt Disney Treasures series of DVDs, they come in a tin, and usually have something nice inserted in the DVD case.

Today, I bought the new one, "Your Host Walt Disney, TV Memories 1956-1965"

You might be able to find older sets on the secondary market (amazon used and ebay) I really like the "Disneyland, U.S.A." set and the two "Mickey Mouse in Black and White" sets. I also have "Disney Rarities" which has the silent Alice shorts on it, and one set that is the first week of the Mickey Mouse Club. There are a lot of others in the series, all of them probably really good.

I saw a lot of those you mentioned I really think I like the Disney Treasures Mickey 1939- Today one but *shrugs* I looked at the list of cartoons it had on it and it was pretty decent but is it a multi - disk set? Because if it just had cartoons and a few special features I don't think it would be worth the payment. Now if they had an animated history of Mickey as a special feature or interviews with Walt now then

I'd be interested. I really want to find something to do with the history of the Disneyland park... think that would be neat too. If anybody has any ideas please let me know.

I got the "Disney Studios" (which has the Reluctant Dragon on it) from the treasures series last year for christmas. I liked it, so I'm sure any Disney fan would like anything from that series.

If you are looking for Older Disney Classics, as well as the newer ones you can also try http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/movie ... ylane.html I have mentioned that link before in threads. It's actually a fun link to just scroll through and get some neat Disney history.

You put in a year like 1940 then it will bring up what was going on then and you can click on..say Pinocchio and it will bring up more information and over to the left it will have a link to Pinocchio, if you click on it, it will take you to where you can purchase it.

I belong to the Disney Movie Club so I get what I like from that place. I know it costs more, by I like the convenience and the old old movies it sells

OK, has anyone come across a copy of "Song of the South," on DVD? I know the states never got it, but maybe you pro's have seen an overseas version... I used to own the VHS of the movie, but believe it or not, my "History of Animation," teacher disappeared with it. With all the WWII cartoons and other not-so-politically-correct Disney Treasures being release... I was hoping maybe "Song of the South" might be getting a digital re-master release in the US? Any word?

Do a google search for it and you can find people who will sell you a PAL (British TV format) version, convert it over to a NTSB (American TV format) DVD and then some will even buy back the PAL version (all for a fee of course).
