Wow!!! It sounds like a pretty sweet ride. Let, me ask a question... does it still carry the same message the original Living Seas carried? About helping Sea Life environment?
Do you think have enough time to go the bathroom before the next show?

We can't you old fool, WE'RE BOLTED TO THE SEATS!!!

Just Believe,

The ride itself does not carry much of a message. Both the upper and lower modules opposite the manatee module are down for rehab and they were primary parts of the environmental message. So I can not comment on what may be being done there. Turtle Talk with Crush and the module in which they have the model of Bruce still carry environmentally friendly themes and information. But I would say that it is probably somewhat watered down to a younger audience than previously.

Some corrections to my previous post:
The equipment I saw that is mentioned in #3, consists of fish excluders to prevent the live fish from playing havoc with the projections. I forget the exact figure, but they weigh something like 2200 lbs each.

As regards #8, the attraction is now officially "The Seas with Nemo & Friends". Okay, I don't like that name. Too long. I prefer The Living Seas, or maybe the Seas, but could do without the whole "Nemo & Friends" thing. Also, it is no longer Seabase Alpha, it is simply the Seabase.

Apparently it's not enough of an insult to replace a sea base theme with a cartoon show, but they also named the gift shop "Seabase Alpha".

No wonder I'm so grumpy.

The tech sounds nice, but reducing the aquarium to a backdrop for toons make me want to drop a manatee on Lasseter's head. (And then get the manatee safely back to the water, of course.)

Wait let me get this straight... they've closed off a part of the aquarium to the REAL fish so only the FAKE fish will be visible???

Chesire Cat,

Not quite. Rather the real fish are being excluded from certain areas near the windows. My understanding is that this will prevent the images of Nemo and friends from being projected on real fish. The real fish are still visible in the background, but will not be in the immediate foreground.

Oh, ok I got it now, thanks for claryifying that. It would have defeated the whole purpoes if the fish weren't swimming with the projections.

It's still an amusing irony that the actual fish are detoured away from the guests. Sort of symbolic of Epcot these days.

Here is a Video of the ride if you'd like to see what it looks like.

I have a better, meaning longer video of the seaguls but I can't figure out why I can't load them, I will try to figure it out before I return home.

I must say I think the imagineers did a really good job with the ride. Here is a complete write up of the ride. Saves me time writing it...

Its complete with pictures....

It looks like a nice dark ride that would be at home in Fantasyland, but the fact that it's in Future World makes me want to chum the Seas.

Ugh... why didn't WDW just leave the submarine lagoon a little longer so the Nemo ride could go there, just like at Disneyland? They HAD to mess with the Living Seas. It seems like a cool ride, but definitley in the wrong place.

Nemo would have been a very nice fit in Fantasyland. I really do like the ride, but have say part of me is sad that the Seas.. is not as it was. I really like the educational marine bio feel of Living Seas. They seem to have lost the marine bio feel and are aiming at attracting a larger ( more kid friendly) audience. The past few years the Living Seas has looked tired and been loosing appeal. The new Seas is a better draw. Kids and parents who would have no idea what they are looking at in the tank now identify with crush, mr ray, etc. This is probably the reason Disney made the change. Its a very smart marketing move.

So I will enjoy the new ride, at least the imagineers got this one right and didn't do a 1/2 assed job, but still long for the old living seas.

The one thing I'm terribly going to miss is "The Seas" the movie. That was such a beautifully written movie.

While I'm nostalgic for the old EPCOT Center, including the original Seabase Alpha, I think this adds a great spark to a pavillion that was in decline. Even though it's not on the same magnitude, it's similar to what Soarin' has done for The Land.

I'm looking forward to experiencing this the next time I'm at WDW.
