The Hat - MGM

I always liked the water tower. But would be open to something new that doesn't have a severly major character reference.

Remember the old Epcot logos? Maybe something like that with a film reel or something.

What about the Chinese Theater. It's quintessential Hollywood.

Another idea is a movie poster akin to the Lord of the Rings (the one stuffed full of all the characters) and have the attractions be the characters. So for example, the Tower could be in one corner and the LMA show in another with the Chinese in the center. Just an idea.

Or they could change the hat Icon... maybe they could use Film Reels for the ears?... It just shouldn't live where it's at. It should be moved to a NEW location.

I liked the idea of it over the entrance (or the entrance of a ride/attraction... maybe closer to the "One Man's Dream")

I'd like to see the return of the "Earful" tower. It didn't really have anything to do with movies, but it said "Disney." The Chinese theater is too close to the Hollywood original to be a Disney icon; it should be something unique to Disney.

How about the Hollywood Tower? Imagineering at its best.

You know what. The problem is the hat is missing something. I know, I know. It needs a big gaudy wand to make it complete! LOL

Yes! A big wand! And a big hand to hold it! And how about some huge gaudy letters spelling out MGM? I think we're onto something here!

the hat looks nice, but definitely out of place. i like the idea to the right of the trams...would look great on the outside or in the distance...just not where it is

I've never known the Studios without the hat. The first time I went there was in 2002 during the 100 Years of Magic. Similarly, the first time I went to Epcot was in 2000 when the arm, wand, and "2000" first appeared, so I don't know Spaceship Earth without its acoutrements either. So from my perspective, it'd be very strange to see either park without.

But, for the sake of purity, I guess I wouldn't pitch a fit if they went away either. After all, the Studios' true icon is the Ear-fel Tower that you only really see on the Backlot Tour. The hat has almost completely eclipsed it.

Disney replaced the Liberty tree over night!!!!!!! It's a live tree!!!!!!!!

not only that, but in building AK, they moved quite a few large trees from the North end of the property. sure, it took a few days, but they did it. Also, the "Inferno Barge" used in Illuminations was moved from the north east corner down to EPCOT, and that took a couple of days. they were able to do it.

I still say they just take it down and make the "Ear-ful" tower the symbol again...

If they're so worried that the earful tower can't be seen from the entire park, they could've just move it to a more visible location instead of making the hat the new icon. Although, I like being able to see it from World Drive and know that the Studios is just on the other side of the trees.
