You know what, I like the Gary Oldman idea too. :D I just watched Air Force One last night and I thought, he hasn't been in any movies recently. I think if it was a good role for him, he would be the best villian there could be for the Jungle Cruise! :D
Do you think have enough time to go the bathroom before the next show?

My idea for a plot is that the Jungle Cruise company has been in the jungle doing tours for a long time, but has always struggled. They always get lost, or barely make it out of the jungle with all of the tourists. Another company comes in and starts doing tours, but does it better and with a poaching business on the side.

So, Brendan Fraser and his troop of workers set out to defeat them. At some point in the movie they also befriend the natives that always seem to attack them. They do it by finding out the tribe is really friendly but just finds it funny to attack the boats.

I know it's a generic plot, but I figured with tons of comical talent like Fraser, now Oldman as the evil captain, and, say, Martin Lawrence as the chief of the natives, it would be a good satire of jungle movies. I also pictured someone like Owen Wilson being an obnoxious tourist. And then other guest stars like that.
Sounds promising to me :D

You should be a screenwriter for Disney films, you just made this movie sound like it could work.

I was thinking the same thing. That would be a great plot! I could do without Owen Wilson, but that's just me. ;-)

Thanks for the feedback! Maybe I'll make up a screenplay :D
And Owen Wilson was one idea. It's really the idea of different tour groups that would cause gags. Like having the Star Trek crew as one tour group and do references to the show, but keeping within the plot and setting of the movie.

Wow! I just realized I've thought about this way too much.

My $0.02 worth: Just write a four-page treatment, and try to get it to an agent, or the director, if announced yet. FWIW...

I think that if they make it more serious, since "talking with smallville writers" sounds more serious than comedic, it would be a better film. I guess what I am saying is I would rather have it more like Pirates than Haunted Mansion than Country Bears. Not that I have seen the last film. Of course the money making is in Pirates-like, but I think the story is the strongest there anyway. All these things are obvious, but you gotta agree with me.

I think Pirates worked because they focused on what the ride's story tone is like. It's a fairly serious ride with gags in it to make it light hearted. Where Country Bears failed, in my opinion, is it didn't really stay true to the attraction like Pirates. And Haunted tried to in some ways, but made it a lot goofier than gag filled.

My thought about Jungle Cruise, and why I'm not too keen on having the Smallville writers, is that JC is about having a gag-filled tour. There's nothing too serious about it. If it loses that in the movie, than the movie is not truly about the Jungle Cruise.

I am not sure who I would like to see in the movie, but J Lo an Ice T I wouldn't go see it. Brendan Frasier would be good, I wonder what Universal would think about that, since he did well for them with the Mummy movies, and they have the Mummy attraction at the park.

If they do make the Jungle Cruise into a movie, I just hope they do it justice and really put time and thought into it. We shall see as time progresses forward.

I for one couldn't remember the plot of the first film when I was in the theatre for the second one. Honestly the only reason why I was in there was because I wanted to see parallels to the attraction and the fact I remembered the first film being "all right".

Another thing that helped Pirates was it had eye candy in the form of its central characters who were very opposite each other. Not to mention Mr. Depp's acting appealed to a lot of people(fangirls?), and that franchise is getting milked partially(mostly?) because of it. So Jungle Cruise might have to follow the same formula in order to be as popular.

Pirates are easily tangible because from the ride and halloween and movies we kinda already know what to expect. JC might be more difficult because when you're on the ride, you're just you, the other guests and the skipper and the backside of water ;) Sure thereare the natives, the lost expedition, but it's not as immersive.

You bring up some good points, Lion. I think I realized a difference between Pirates and Haunted Mansion. Both are immersive and have gags in them, but Haunted's gags and references to the ride were forced. Pirates' focused on making a pirate film based on the ride. I think JC could do the same thing, but I still think it could be a comedy. Maybe even a parody. Emperor's New Groove is the "inspiration" to me, where it is almost pure comedy with a plot that is so basic that it allows for all the gags to take over.

Definitely. These gags arent 'LOL' ones, but are certainly nostalgic and give a nod to the attraction's overall tone. I can see the plot being serious enough to get the ball rolling and tie the movie together. But like the jungle, the (heroes)journey will be exciting, surprising and overall unpredictable. I guess that's where the gags/storyline come in.

Don't forget merchandise!

I was not happy at first to see the Smallville creators working on this project, but then realized they are also responsible for Shanghai Noon, and the first couple seasons of Smallville weren't that bad. I just hope they keep to the rides time period. I see it as an Indiana Jones type flick. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. It could make or break the ride... anyone remember the Country Bears?

some say that this an a old topic, however, I think until they create a jungle cruise movie that its still an interesting topic. I do think that the jungle cruise would be a great choice for the next attraction based movie. I think the right amount of action and comedy will be needed to make the movie a success. I big star would really help too. These are all the things that pirates of the Caribbean movies had and they were all a great success. What great movie star would be perfect for Jungle cruise the movie I wonder?

I think the Jungle Cruise movie would have to be much more comedy than action or anything else for that matter. My plot idea for Jungle Cruise would be about a bored private eye that decides to investigate a seemingly-magical cruise through the jungles around the world that is causing the disappearances of many, many people.
