Is Mickey disappearing?
We AL LOVE MICKEY
schocking? NO!!! But besides in connections with the parks, where else do we hear from him? He was just in a flop movie so what happening to him? Is he not popular in the public's eye? He'll always be at WDW and DL but where else? No more HUGE attention

Do you think have enough time to go the bathroom before the next show?

last I checked, he was still fairly popular. they're pumping out DVDs of alot of the classic Disney cartoons. The was the whole "Classic Cartoon Favorites" series that came/are still coming out, as well as a new series (not sure what the name is).

I would say Mickey is a type of character that is timeless and will never disappear. I do think Disney has been lacking in marketing the Mickey and the Gang, (Minnie, Goufy, Donald, Pluto, etc) to the masses untill recently. The mickey mouse club house, although a rip-off of Dora will infuse Mickey into the younger generation. My 2 year old niece loves him.. not that she had a chance not to... we started the brainwashing early!!

also, in addition to the DVDs and stuff that have already been mentioned, Mickey plays heavily in Kingdom Hearts (a game made by both Disney and Square-Enix). In fact, in some parts, you get to play AS Mickey, as well as beside him (in a few scenes, he acts alot like Yoda from the last 2 Star Wars movies - jumping around while swinging a sword).
Plus, the market is saturated with Mickey and the gang merchandise - t-shirts, hats, various other clothing items, collectibles like plates, toys, etc. these are evident in almost every store in the Orlando vicinity.
I think that now (within the last 10 years or so), all the other Disney characters are getting pushed to offer more choice - winnie the pooh characters, snow white's dwarves, etc.

I agree with all of you!!! It just seems to me that characters like Spongebob have taken Mickey's place. It's just you don't hear from him so much as you use to hear from him.rdeacon wrote:I would say Mickey is a type of character that is timeless and will never disappear.

I noticed this also about KH2, and liked it a lot! I'm not a big fan of Mickey. Like him, but prefer Donald and Goofy and dare I say Stitch. But the way they market him in KH2 and the Clubhouse seems great. He does appeal to wide variety. And he jumps around like Yoda. I know, I know. I might not be able to call myself a true Disney fan not saying Mickey is my favorite. It is just that Mickey is not first in my top 3. So, I apologize to all the Disney fans who do have the one that started it all as their fave.
I did also want to add that I just got finished babysitting my friend's 2 year old girl and she loves Mickey Mouse because of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. This is a girl that her staple character has been Elmo, but got so excited about seeing all my Mickey Mouse stuff. I think the Mouse is gaining some ground.

yes its the CGI one...csquare77 wrote:Is it that CGI tv show? The House of mouse also reminded me of the "classic cartoons".
I think that's because spongebob has over saturated the market with everytype of item available.. he is everywhere. Also spongebob plays to a larger market, I watch the show with my niece and find my self laughing at it. There are many jokes that go over her head that I get. Its a pretty good show.Just Believe wrote:

I just have Mickey wallpaper in my room along with collections of Mickey toys, pics, and hats. I just want the whole world to still love Mickey as they now do for Spongebob!!
