does that work with any carrier? I only ask because verizon doesn't allow anything outside of their "get it now" applications due to their security concerns. if I can get this stuff on my phone, I'd do it. I just can;t check the site right now because I'm at work...

Well unfortunatly you have to sign up to find out if it works. It figures that my phone doesn't work with it, it's not the service that it doesn't like it's the phone itself. I use Nextel and the phone is a motorla i560. None of the things work for me, but I do have a co-worker that just signed up for it Wednesday, that is what reminded me to post it, I'm not sure which service he has but I will find out on Monday when he gets back to work.

Not expecting too much here, but I hope that SOMEONE can help. I recently got the LG 8300 Camera phone from Verizon Wireless. I was told by a couple of people that they heard that you can use MP3s as ring tones. I looked both in the user guide as well as online and could not find anything. I tried to call the company as well as go into the store to see if they could help, but they alluded to the fact that "They don;t support it as they only have the Get It Now pay feature. But, they didn;t say that it CAN'T be done. So, I'm hopeing that SOMONE out there in TV land as either read or tried something to make this possible...

The mbuzzy site doesn't support my phone yet, so I can't use that...

You probably need one of these:

Then you can (probably) put MP3s on your phone from your computer... but you may need special software either from LG or a third party designed to help you do so. http://www.howardforums.com/ is a great source for all your cell phone hacking/customization needs.

The "get it now" feature was one of the reasons I recently left verizon wireless. When I switched to Sprint I found out they implemented a feature like this as well. I found a site that allows you to upload ringtones and you can download them for free from the site.
http://www.funformobile.com/pages/ringt ... ngtone.php

It's works for me. I checked that there is a Verizon wireless option. You can start there.

But beyond that, I'm SURE there's a method like Spaulo mentioned where you can get a cable and hack your phone to use ringtones. Google for "LG 8300 hack ringtone" :)

I already have the cable, and mine actually also has a port to plug in the charger so it charges while hooked into the computer. it's just the getting the MP3/WAV/WMA to be the ring tone that I need. I'll check out these sites when I get home and try them out.

okay This is what you may need. A program called bitpim http://www.bitpim.org/ . What I have down is used the program to add MP3 ringers to my wifes phone she has the LG 9800 I don't have a cable for it but it does have Bluetooth which this program hacks into it to allow you to get the ringers.

Try it its free and when I did the mp3's I didn't edit the song so it plays the whole thing, just remember Verizon only lets you have 30s before it kicks into voice mail but for txt messages it will play the whole song.

Good luck

Sub, that site is great. I've added about 6 sound clips right now that are now set as ringers. I need to get some actual songs now but I need to cut them down so my phone can actually open them (somewhere under 500 kb). I've got now part of the Bear Band Seranade, One Little Spark instrumental, PotC area music, early take of Grim Grinning Ghosts, Steamboat Willie, and Muppetvision 3d queue music - mah nah mah nah and Moving right along

Use a program like Audacity to edit the clips to 20 seconds before you upload the clips. Rings only last about that long before going to voicemail.

And I'm glad the site works, it's a few extra steps to use, but overall you can get the tones up.

I'm curious if one can just put the tones on a website and download them as direct mp3's.

The site seems fine to do that sort of thing. it coverts the song to MIDI, but it sounds like the MP3 I used (vocals and everything). Verizon, I've found out, doesn;t even allow MP3 format anymore for some reason. I know when I transfer songs into the phone or the memory card, all the songs need to be WMA format to play.

yeah, with that site, I would try those "free" ringtone offers that they have. I know I only used the uploader thing right in the middle of that page after I had smaller sound clips ready to send...
