Has anyone done one of the E-Tickets nights at WDW?

Basically they open the park late for E Ticket holders so there are no lines and the E ticket [and some other] rides open. Never done it myself, I'm just fine getting to the parks at the crack of dawn for early entry to beat the crowds instead.

Welll, let me tell about a real cool thing at WDW. During the fall and spring seasons, on Tuesday and Thursday nights they have "E-Ticket" nights. Cost $10.00 extra and a regualr admission ticket. They close the park at 7PM to the general public, then let 5,000 or less hotel guess have run of the park till 1:00 AM. Only the top rides are open, but lines are short. Sometimes they will even let you ride several times in a row. I have done that on Splash Mountain several times. No crowds and a Turkey Leg make for a great evening.

Sounds like fun, only Disney resort guests are eligible for e-tickets?

Yep - tickets are only available at the front desk of your Disney resort from what I understand.

That's right, it's the best $10.00 I ever spent at disney. Sometimes if we time it right we will do two nights in a week.

That's really good to know. I remember being there and wanting to stay later. WDW is quite different from Disneyland now because Disneyland is open til at least 10 pm every night. WDW resorts close around 8 pm IIRC. It was a strange feeling having to leave the park at that time. Then again, we would go and party at Pleasure Island afterwards.

Closing time depends on the time of year and weekday. Epcot is open till 9 every night. MGM varies from 7 to 9 for close times. MK closes anywhere from 7 [midweek] till 10 or 11 on the weekends. And AK closes at the usual sundown. Of course with holiday and special events it often closes later than that [midnight or later sometimes].

You're right, DL is open a lot later in general, I suppose since it is in the middle of the city and easy to get to after work for a few hours of fun. Though I seem to recall DCA closing at 8 or so when I've been there.

For us old timers who cannot stay up late more then a couple of times during a week, E-Ticket was wonderful. I spent many a late night sitting under the Astro Orbitor nawing on a Turkey Leg, though they have a different name for them in that area. Ah, a carnivor in his natural habitat, Disney World.

Do you think October will be busy next year? Will they have E-Tickets then?

I can't speak for the E-tickets but I hear October is a great time to go, weather is still warmer than winter but the kids are all back in school so the traffic is down and the lines are shorter. You might check out Birnbaum's list of when the best times to go are, I don't have the book right here but I want to say that was one of the top recommended times.

I have always loved about Thanksgiving. It is cool and the humidity is low.

Just FYI - E ticket nights are no more. Early entry has been altered to make it Extra Magic Hours. Each park has early entry [usually 1 hr] and late hours [up to 3 hrs late so for example Epcot is open till 12] on select nights. One of the few places that mentions this change is http://mgmstudios.org/emh.html

I used both when I was there last week, the early entry is still the better one line-wise, true walk ons the whole time for the extra hour plus the first couple hours the park is open. The late hours were certainly more crowded but no lines were more than 15 minutes.

The Extra Magic Hours also only applies to certain WDW hotels, not sure which ones aren't able to take advantage but during the busy season I would imagine if any are cut out of the program it'd be the All-Stars due to the size and price-range of the hotels...
