One of my favorite queues is Star Tours. But I must admit that Space Mountain's queue used to be awesome before they renovated it. If I remember right it went through circle vision 360 and all those video screens that played the safety and rules and stuff for the ride. It was pretty awesome Tower of Terror has a pretty decent queue set up as well.
I do stuff sometimes.
You're confusing Rocket Rods with Space Moutain.bigthunderlover wrote:But I must admit that Space Mountain's queue used to be awesome before they renovated it. If I remember right it went through circle vision 360 and all those video screens that played the safety and rules and stuff for the ride.
Rocket Rods used the old Circlevision 360 acttraction and made it into a queue. They used video from Timekeeper and had safety videos. Outside of the 360 area they had the lame fluorescent wireframes of models. To me, Rocket Rods is the epitome of "on the cheap". It had the potential to be cool but they didn't put the time and money it needed. A prime example was the much needed reinforcement of the track. There were supposed to be banked turns and the car was supposed to maintain higher speeds. This is why the attraction is gone. The engines burnt out too much because of the ever changing speeds in which they weren't designed to make.
Space Moutain's old queue had the "Fly by" where you could see inside the mountain and see rockets racing through space. Personally, I think they should have kept this. But, it makes the inside much darker.

Everybody named off some really cool queues and every time i read a new one it reminded me of how much i loved that one...and so on..heh!
I guess if i had to narrow it down it would have to be splash mountain, star tours, indy, and tower of terror. I really like the immersive queues and the way they prepare you for the ride.

I love the Indy and Mansion queues and the POTC smell is nice (btw, does anyone know where that smell comes from?) but i think the theming in ToT is amazing. I love the detail all through the lobby and boiler room, and the creepy outdoor music on the patio is quite spooky

My guess is that the POTC smell is the chlorine mixed with the air conditioner. That's what I believe it is although I searched on hiddenmickeys.org, I found these.SimplyMagical wrote:I love the Indy and Mansion queues and the POTC smell is nice (btw, does anyone know where that smell comes from?) but i think the theming in ToT is amazing. During the years of riding on the POTC ride at Disneyland, I have noticed a familiar scent within the ride. It's kind of a musty/watery smell. My theories are that it is the smell of the chemical which provides the fog effect. Or that the smell is simply from the massive amounts of water which pump through the ride each day. However, through dozens of cleanings and refurbishments, the scent has remained.
The smell has been there for a long time and although it may have something to do with the water-way system, it probably has to do with Walt's attention to detail. Simmilar smells exist inside the entire park. Haunted Mansion has a musty "dead air" smell; Main Street smells like cookies, etc. The imagineers are just too smart in creating a realistic environment.

Hi again. I may have posted this before somewhere else, but personally I do feel
that HM has thee best queue in DL.
Now, having said that, (and knowing what contention this brings), let me just say
that if you don't consider the gallery/stretching room into the equation and just
focus on the inner-hallway to the db loading area, there is still enough creative
elements to call it a proper queue.
Just the fact that in busier times, once you step out of the gallery you are almost
literally hit with a long line of 'guests' slowly moving to the loading area, it really
doesn't make you feel as though you're on the 'ride' portion just yet.
As far as the outside area in concerned; the area between the front gate and the
front door IMO, it is only sparsely themed. The pet cemetary, the headstones on
the hill, even the FP zone all add, albeit slightly, the overall sense of anticipation
before you're inside. Even the 'ghost' horse and hearse are sometimes lost on
people who may not get the gag while trying to hurry to the front of the line.
In any event, I still consider the HM 'queue' - outside AND inside - to be one of
the best at DL.
With Indy, Roger, and ST also on the list. Later. Peace.
