Hoop Dee Doo Review

Post by foldmama » Sep Mon 11, 2006 10:47 am

Hi Everyone: Has anyone been to the Hoop Dee Doo Review in FF? My sister-in-law booked the HDDR for the 5:00 PM sitting on November 9th. We have read a few reviews on-line, but I was just wondering if anyone here has some insight. My nephew is 10. Are we better with this or another night show? Thanks for all of your input! :D

Actually, I've been to the HDDR about 3 or 4 times. It doesn't matter which show you go to because the show does not really vary from one showing to the next (unless you're one of the lucky ones to be pulled on stage.... I was the "can-can" girl my last time there). It's a "campy" fun show with "Stick to your ribs" kind of backyard BBQ food. Chicken, Ribs, Corn etc. Even the wait staff become part of the show. Not Glamerous, But more of a "Hoe Down". Fun for the kids and amusing for the adults. My Parents go every time they're there. But If you've been once, you've seen it all.

Knedeau - Thanks so much for the response. Sounds like fun. We just wanted to try something a little different on this trip and naturally something a 10 year old would enjoy. Not always an easy mission!

I personally think it's abysmal! The show is too hokey for me but it's the food that I really think sends this venue into the tank. Just awful.

C'mon now, tell us how you really feel about the show. I'm sitting here eating my lunch and almost spit it back out from laughing. I'm taking it that you don't ask for a "to go" box when you leave.

:P No way Jose! Abu Ghraib would be more fun than HDD in my opinion!

AK.. While I normally agree with you on most WDW points. I DO like the HDDR... and I think that going to the HDDR is not about the food.. but more that it's about the show. That said ... The theatre/show for the HDDR is in a CAMPGROUND.... sooooo....the food matches the environment. :)

I think anyone would enjoy this show though (some just may need more of the sangria than others...;) )

I plan on listening to knedeau regarding this issues. She knows what I'm looking for and why we are planning on attending. It's all about the experience for a 10 year old and the silly humor he will enjoy!

We just went again in August and every one of us had a blast. From my 55 year old Dad to my 6 year old. The food is pretty good. The entertainment is very good. Our waiter was awesome. It doesn't matter where you sit either. This time we were right up by the stage while we've sat in the back and up in the balcony many times. Well worth the time and money if you ask me!

If you have the money it is nice to experience once. The price has really gotten way out of hand and to take a family of 4 or 5 is just plain expensive. The meal is ok and the show is the same each time we have attended. But just like everything esle disney, the price just keeps going up, and up, and up.

Once when we went to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue Larry Linville from the M.A.S.H. tv show was there. He was sitting at the table next to ours. I behaved myself all through dinner. But, after dinner I asked him if I could take a picture with my children. He was very nice and let me take a few pictures.

Back to the question. My son was 9 years old and daughter was 13 when we were there and they both enjoyed the restaurant. Our server was great and the food very tasty. :mickey:

Hi Everyone - I was at the Hoop Dee Doo Reveue in November, 2006 with my sister-in-law and nephew who was 10 at the time. He loved it! I thought it was very cute, but the food left a lot to be desired. It's all about the show. The problem with the food was that it was just over cooked and dry. It was a fun experience one time.
