Whats your favorite Disney resort?

Post by Disneynut » Nov Mon 29, 2004 5:20 pm

Whats your favorite Disney resort, and why?

Our favorite resort is the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Its so peaceful to wake up at sunrise and watch all the African animals wander through the savanna. Just like most of the other deluxe resorts they have activities for everyone. We enjoy dining at Jiko, the food is excellent!

T-18 days :D

This may surprise a lot of people, but for me it is the Pop Century. The resort has a better layout and the food is better then the All Stars. I also like the monorail hotels WHEN it is off season. The one that did nothing for me was the Animal Lodge. The hotel was nice, but tofu pizza for breakfast is a little too wierd. Will someone please tell the Disney people most of us like normal food when we are on vacation.

Has got to be the Polynesian. It is by far tops on the list of resorts!! But Old Key West comes in a close second.

I'll stay away for breakfast pizza.

Old Key West is OK except for the long bus waits. Sometimes it seems to take hours. I also like the French Quarter at Port Orleans. It has a very small campus, thus, there is no long walks from your room to the main hall.

When I was last at WDW 7 years ago I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. I REALLY enjoyed it. I felt it was nice and secluded. The geyser going off every 30 minutes was a nice touch. I enjoyed being able to take the ferry from there to MK. I hope we decide to stay there when we come out in October 2005.

So, to say it's my favorite, it's really all I know. I stayed at the polynesian and contemporary when I was a child. I barely remember those. Unless you've stayed at them all, I seriously take any of your opinions. :) What I've read so far are comparisons between a few resorts. Which is great. Keep that up :)

You should do some of the backstage tours. They have a neat one that takes you around to a lot of the hotels, explains the decorations, then takes you to the big area where they keep all of the Christmas decorations stored inculding backups.

First off... First Post, Hello Everyone!

Next... I've gotta say (like many others) I love the WDW Wilderness Lodge... It's just so massive that you could spend an entire day around the resort itself. A close second would be the Contemporary Resort...

Those two that are at the top of my list. Problem is lately when I go, I take a herd that normally takes three rooms and I normally pick up the tab. Maybe that's why I have the love for Pop Century. Wish they had a small convention area so I could tie work with pleasure.

Tough question - Polynesian is great with its tropical surroundings (esp in the dead of winter back here - it is a really nice get-away!). The pool area is really nice with the new work and the overall tropics, tikis and more are really great. And lots of great places to watch the classic Electric Water Pagent along the beach! This would probably be my favorite.

Grand Floridian is quite amazing, nothing quite like it and very elegant. They get your room ready for you before you return for the night with the chocolate on the pillows and all and live music every night in the main building. But I still like the tropics a bit better.

The Contemporary is also great [ok, which one isn't really neat?] and it has the easiest access to MK that anyone could ask for with the quick walk. Great room decor but a bit too much concrete and too little landscaping in places and could use a bit more space in the snack area. Still a great experiance though, the concoarse offers great views of the monorail and the park!

All sort of depends on your taste but every one I've stayed at or visited (I've tried to stop by many of the others just to get a feel for their experiance) is really something amazing when it comes to atmosphere and all that.

I took a dvc tour of Saratoga Springs early November. Rooms are the same as all the other dvc resorts but different theming. Great pool, lots of water features for kids. Hope to visit resort in January.

Wilderness Lodge, without a doubt!

Post by mickster68 » Nov Mon 29, 2004 10:36 pm

We've stayed here twice, and there are so many reasons why...
1. The lobby!
2. The boat launch
3. Electric water parade right outside your window
4. Whispering Canyon Cafe--so much fun!
a. "Anyone seen the ketchup??!!"
b. Pony Express race
c. "I...state your name...promise not to go to Universal Studios"
5. The grounds/the geyser/the wildlife
6. Roaring Forks
7. The flag raising ceremony...(ask about it when you check in-it could be you helping to raise the flags on top of the resort--what a view!)

Rather than using a day of our park hopper passes, we like to spend our arrival day at WDW visiting the resorts via Disney Transportation. We usually get dinner at one of the hotels (1900 Park Faire, Cape May Cafe, Trail's End, and of course, WC Cafe) anc check out the grounds, etc.
I agree with most others saying that each resort is special and unique, it's all just a matter of your taste.

I have to try that out. We are going in March back to Pop Century but it sounds like I may need a May trip to Sarasota Springs
