Re: MGM - Best place to eat
I've eaten at Mama Melrose a couple of times and it's always been pretty good. I like eating at Sci-Fi for the atmosphere, but the food is overpriced for what you get. Honestly, the Studios isn't the best park for good. Usually, we eat lunch at the ABC Commissary, and if we are staying for Fantasmic, we pick up a quick bite at one of the food stands near Rockin' Rollercoaster.cikacz1981 wrote:whats the best place to eat in at MGM?

mama melrose is very good. one thing you can do there is reserve a "fantasmic dinner package" at mama melrose. this will give you a dinner and priority seating at fantasmic. dinner costs about $32 but its a lot of food and good seats for the show. this way you don't have to get to fantasmic an hour early, you can show up casually 20 minutes before, worth the price/

Best place to eat
Casting my vote for the Sci-Fi Dine-In. The food's decent, but it's almost secondary to the atmosphere, with the car-shaped tables, and the continuous trailers from the golden age of the genre... the place is designed to a T. Not sure if much has changed since I last went (about seven years ago, if my memory serves right).

I think the place they are referring to is the open air one by the Honey I shrunk the kids playground. That has had a makeover and the pulled pork sandwich was excellent. I am also a fan of the Backlot.spaulo wrote:Btw, whoever said Backlot Express is gone, must have it wrong... AllEarsNet has a menu for the restaurant, updated as of June of this year:

For sit down I enjoy Mama Melrose because the food is usually excellent and reasonable price compared to Brown Derby (where food is good, especially the Cobb salad)
Our honeymoon was at WDW in 93 too. February, though!kkbowen12 wrote:My vote is for Sci-Fi. We ate there on our honeymoon back in June 93, so it will always be a favorite. It's also a great place for the family now that we have kids, and the food is prety good as well.

No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

Of the four options, I've only eaten at the Brown Derby. Wasn't anything special. Atmosphere was good, but our waiter was terrible and the food wasn't memorably good. Been meaning to go to Prime Time or Mama Melrose's, but I'll have to wait for my next trip, whenever that is.

I can't believe so many people chose Sci-Fi as their favorite. Too loud and way too many kids for me & my sweetie. We love a quiet(er) booth at Mama Melrose. The 4 cheese flatbread is bigger than the plate it comes on and is only $11.99. Sysfail always gets the Eggplant Napoleon and it is delicious too! A perfect lunch right after seeing Muppet Vision 4-D.
...And it rained, and rained, and rained. The Deluge...
