Who else loves the buses at WDW?

I was going to ask about the parking fees if you're a resort guest, but I guess I won;t have to now. I'll verify that it's free (I'm pretty sure the answer is it is free) because that'll be very nice especially since I booked the trip through AAA. they have preferred parking right behind the handicapped spaces right near the entrances...

I think the busses are okay but i'd prefer to be on the Monorail and Boat system too.

Even though we always stay on-site and are eligible for free parking at the parks, we still like the buses. There have been too many times to mention when cars are lined up to get into the theme park lots and we just cruise past in the bus. Besides, mass transportation, whether it's a monorail, boat, or bus, just makes more sense.

Maybe it's just a peculiarity of my family, but being able to go without a car is a big part of "vacation" to us. When we went to Paris, we walked or took the metro everywhere, and when we go to WDW, we park the car and use mass transport or foot power to get where we want to go. We spend too much time in our everyday life in a car; the last thing we want to do is spend our vacation in one!

I Love the Paris METRO!!!!! There is ALWAYS a nearby metro station where-ever you are in Paris! I found the Metro to much like Boston's "T". Very easy to use!(Unlike the London Underground.... which I found the stations to be very far apart.)

I like the NYC subway, myself. get just about anywhere in the 5 buroughs with no problem at all. and if the subway can;t get you there, you could hop on a bus with a transfer to get you there. plus, there's a whole world down in the tunnels with stores, performers at every turn. it's really quite something down there...

I think there are way too many busses at WDW. I wish they would run monorails or boats to all the different parks & resorts. I would settle for a tram for those land-locked hotels.

I agree, I would love for them to be true. But you know the old saying; "Fool me once, shame on you... Fool me twice, shame on me." I really want there to be monorail expansion, but all the news I hear i take with a grain of salt and an I'll believe it when i see it attitude.

My wife and I LOVE the buses. We always take the buses when we stay at a resort. And recently we DID take the buses to tour the resorts. A lot of fun. The only problem we had was sometimes it did seem to take quite a while for a bus to arrive.

Waiting in line for a Disney bus after park closing can be the longest line for the day.

I can honestly say that while a monorail addition would be nice, for the cost (being a stockholder) I don't think it'd really be effective if the projected figures are correct. I'd much rather see them put the money into a new ride, or even a new park.

We don't stay on property often, but een when we do we rent a car because a) we did the bus thing once and it's awful and it's not because "I'm riding on a bus with people," we ride buses and subways all the time - it's waiting an hour+ to get onto the bus to take you back to the resort on a busy night. and b) we do things outside of Disney and without a car you're basically stuck on Disney property. There are shuttles and busses, that's true, but they're highly inconvenient.

We loved it too. The week we were in Paris last year it was pretty rainy, but we were always able to find a nearby Metro station so we could get where we wanted to go without getting too wet.

The absence of a good rail system is one of the major downfalls of the area where I live (Minneapolis). I guess I just like trains. I'd love to see WDW expand the monorail system. In one of the mental games I play, "If I ran Disney," one of the first things I'd do is give the go-ahead to expand the monorail system!

Ok, so I've never actually experienced the busses at Disney World. I've been lucky enough to have a family that rents a car and more recently has been able to stay at resorts on the monorail line.

This time we're contemplating staying at Port Orleans and might consider taking the busses. Are they actually on a schedule like a city line? How often do they come?

Oh, and jbvenn I'm with you on the lack of Minneapolis transit. Taking the bus to campus is alright, but a train would be fantastic. At least the light rail is starting to expand!

We usually stay at PO Riverside and use the buses, even though we have a car with us. There is no published schedule, but buses arrive pretty regularly throughout the day. The heaviest traffic is at the beginning and end of the day, and at dinnertime, when there are a lot of resort guests on the move. We just walk to the bus stop and wait; we never have to wait very long.

I didn't know the light rail line was expanding; where to? It looks cool, but I don't live near the current route. It will probably be many years before there is anything in my part of town; until then I'll have to get my train fix at WDW and other cities.
