Trip Report 8/2-8/9

Post by packwingfn » Aug Sat 12, 2006 1:38 am

I will be updating this day by day since they are very long entries. Here are my first 2 days:

Wednesday August 2nd: Port Orleans / Magic Kingdom

So the night before, I spent the whole day with Marylou, we took it easy by watching all disney movies such as Lion King & Mulan. It was so cute hearing her sing all of the songs from The Lion King. So after I dropped her off and said our goodbyes, It was really hard seeing her cry. However,I was yawning the whole night but as soon as I got home, I woke up again and could not sleep. I decided to lie on the bed and try to fall alsleep watching ECW but that didn't work so I popped on Smallville and watched 3 episodes. By that time it was 1:30 so I gave up on sleeping and by that time, I finally did fall alsleep, but I woke up at 3:30 so I didn't really feel anything.

We left for the airport and the only story I have from the airport is that my memere got beeped at the security check-in because of her knee surgry. She got searched and searched and searched, poor memere. We met up with my Uncle, Aunt, and Cousins once we got to our gate. We landed around 11:30 and the Disney Magical Express Bus is great since it saves you 10 minutes from finding your luggage. We arrived at Port Orleans around 1ish and I was so excited that I just wanted to go to the parks right away but I promised myself that I would spend the first day with the family. Soooo everyone was real hungry so after checking in, we grabbed some food at the food court. It was our first time using the meal package so it was hard to figure everything out but it became easy after the first purchase. It is defnitely worth every penny as the only thing you have to do is make sure that you don't use all of the meals/counter/snacks in one day. You have to conserve them well.

After eating, the girls wanted to change up before we headed off so while waiting, My dad and my uncle went to find a wheelchair for my memere. Once everyone was ready, we decided to attend the Magic Kingdom since it was open till 11 (without the magic hours) and we had reservations at the Crystal Palace for 5:45. It was 2:30 when we arrived so everyone asked ME on what we should first. I told them that I wanted to check out the UPDATED Pirates ride first so that was only a 30 minute wait which wasn't too bad. I didn't mind the changes they made but it defnitely felt different especially on the first time. I can also see why they would need to change it, Jack Sparrow is the biggest character that Disney has right now.

At this point, it was getting way too hot so we all bought the Spray Bottles with the Fan attached, it was such a good idea even if it costs $18. After that, we split up as my parents and memere went on all of the shows while I went with my aunt, uncle and cousins to one of the thrill rides. We rode on Splash Mountain because it was only a 40 minute wait but it ended up being 70 minutes because the fastpasses slowed down the Standby line. I was just really excited to be there that I wasn't thinking straight so I never really waited in a standby line for a big attraction from that point on. Since it turned out to be such a long line, everyone got tired and cranky but I really enjoyed the ride anyway especially since I got soaked being in the front. We grabbed a fastpass for Big Thunder right after that and made our way to the Crystal Palace.

I had eaten at the Crystal Palace during the last trip so it was practically the same but it felt good. Now my uncle loves to drink alcohol but boy did he get p*** when he found out there was no alcohol served in the Magic Kingdom. Ok, he wasn't p***, He was just upset alittle but nothing too horribile.

By the time we finished eating, it was time to ride on Big Thunder and we walked right on, we were so relieved. We were all together too so we made our way to Tomorrowland. We grabbed a fast pass for Space Mountain and went on all of the other rides which were pretty much walk-ons like TTA, Carousel of Progress, Stitch, Buzz. My grandmother was getting tired so my dad left to take her back to the hotel so when we went on Space Mountain, it was only 6 of us but it was awesome since we had our own ship. Uncle Jamie sat in the front, then Corey, Kacie, Aunt Leah, Mom and myself in the back. The back of the ship is the best hangtime.

Now they wanted to head back to the hotel before Wishes and Spectro so I left them and found a spot for Wishes. It was right near Dumbo in Fantasyland, I enjoyed seeing Fireworks to the left and right of me. I had an hour to kill before the second showing of Spectromagic so I hopped on Winnie the Pooh with no wait, then It's a Small World, Haunted Mansion, then finished the night with Splash Mountain again before I found a spot near Splash Mountain for a GREAT viewing of Spectromagic to end a wonderful first day.

Thursday August 3rd: EPCOT

Having a long first day, I didn't wake up until 7:45 but the 4 of us were all ready to get on the bus for 9:00 as the relatives were not ready so we didn't bother waiting. I'm glad we didn't because the fastpasses for Soarin' go real fast. I left on the bus before my parents because the wheelchair lifter wasn't working so they had to wait for the next bus. Since I left early but still wanted to experience Soarin' with them, I found our "Leave a Legacy" Photos and showed them where they were once they arrived around 15 minutes later. We went straight to Soarin' and grabbed fastpasses for 10-11. Since we were already in the Land Pavillion, we got to skip the line for Listion to the Land because of my memere in the Wheelchair. It was good experiencing the ride for the first time in awhile since it was closed during my last trip. Then we went upstairs and saw Circle of Life. I found it real cute and made me think of Marylou from Tuesday when she was singing the "Circle of Life". I forgot how big the screen is during this movie too, real good sound as well. By that time, our fastpasses were ready for Soarin; I LOVED IT and so did my memere. Since she can't experience many thrill rides at her age, this was probably the biggest thrill that she will get and I'm glad that she enjoyed it. The music from the ride is so peaceful, and the video is really shot well and I loved the smells, especially the oranages, it reminded me of "Horizons"

Now after leaving the Land pavillion, My parents gave me their tickets and wanted me to get some fastpasses for Test Track since I can walk alot faster then having to chug along memere. Now when I got the fastpasses for Test Track, we all got "Suprise Fastpasses" for Mission Space and I happened to run into the relatives who were also getting fastpasses for Test Track and got suprise ones for Mission Space. They were only available from 12:30 to 1:00 and it was 12:25 so I didnt have time to run back and forth. My dad's phone sucked so I couldn't call him either so I decided to ride Mission Space now with them and pay the consequences later. They went on the Less Intense version since it was their first time while I did the intense version. Since I has 2 extra fastpasses from my parents' cards, I told Uncle Jamie that he should go on the Intense version now so me & him rode on it again and he found it to be fun and not as bad as everyone is making it seem to be. By this time, I was getting screamed at on the phone by my father but we explained everything once we met up with them.

We all decided to go see Honey I Shrunk the Audience. I'm glad that we did that next because I skipped that show on the last trip. It's still a fun 3D show. It was funny though, My Uncle and Memere got to go in the special handicap entrance during the pre-show, and my uncle was being his typical pain in the butt but it was so funny that it made me laught out loud. Afterwards, it was time for our fastpasses for Test Track so we all rode on that while finding a spot for memere to stay cool while we were gone. I rode with my parents while they all rode on the same car. I really enjoy that ride, I just wish they would use Track B instead of always choosing Track A lol (jk).

Now we were in trouble though, We had reservations at the 50's Primetime Cafe for 2:30 and it was already 2:00 so we ran to the Internation Gateway to take a boat to MGM. However, we missed the boat by 30 seconds as it just departed so we had to wait another 20 minutes for the next boat. So we didn't arrive to MGM until 3:00. Luckily, Disney isn't so strict about the reservations so we were able to sit down within' a 10 minute waiting period. This is where I had my first drink of the trip as my uncle bought a beer for me. 50's Prime Time Cafe was real fun especially since my uncle is a pain in the butt so of course, he got picked on by the waitress the most. I think my cousins enjoyed seeing that happening to their parents. We all got picked on for having our shoulders on the table.

After eating, I was getting a little tired so I headed back to the room to swim a bit and lie down for a bit. Since EPCOT was extra magic hours, I didn't mind taking a little break. I was only there for 30 minutes as I got antsy to go back to EPCOT. I made it back for 6:30 and headed straight to the World Showcase. I caught the end of Off Kilter and got to hear "Whiskey in the Jar", my favorite song by them. After their set, I grabbed a LaBett Blue and headed to the British Invasion, they opened with "Here Comes the Sun" which was the perfect song since the clouds were going away from the rain that we didn't get that day. They closed with "Let It Be". During one of their songs, Winnie the Pooh came over and started dancing and it made me crack up sooooo much. Since I had finished my beer, it was time for another so I bought a Guiness since I was wearing my guiness shirt, I showed the guy my shirt and didn't even have to talk lol. I made my way back to Off Kilter so I could enjoy a full set by them. Different Songs which is always good too. I bought their live cd right after the show then saw the "O Canada" Film, it sucked that one of the screens was broken so it wasn't really "360" but it was just as good. I experiecned most of the movie facing the back since i've seen it so many times from the front-end. I just love the movie even if i'm not from canada.

The next country on the list was France but they don't serve beer and I really didn't want wine, I just walked around to grab a glimpse of the other countries before Illuminations. I stopped in Germany to grab a Becks and a Pretzle. Well I was going to charge a snack on my meal plan for the pretzle and pay for the beer. Well the people screwed up and charged 2 snacks and I didn't have to pay for my beer. YAY SAVE $7. Illuminations was real good to experiences munching on a pretzle and drinking a beer.

The night was not over yet since it was extra magic hours. I went to Future World and on my way to Imagination, I found the "Character Connection" building and was introduced to Photopass, so I took a picture with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Chip & Dale. I was buzzed so the pictures came out funny looking lol. Then I made my way to Imagination with no line (is there ever a line?) then sent my emails to my friends after the rides. Then I made my way to the Living Seas and spend a lot of the time there. Since I didn't see the Turtle Talk show last time, I promised myself that I would do alot of stuff that I normally skip over. I'm glad I saw the Turtle Talk show as it was real cute. I had a front row seat and it was funny seeing all the little kids in front having a good time. I finished the Living Seas by purchasing a Dory stuff animal, I love her. I was just disappointed that I couldnt see the above tank for the manatees but I did get to see the underwater tank and they were awake.

Since it was getting late and I experienced everything that I wanted too for the night, I went on Spaceship Earth to finish the night.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Friday August 4th : Disney MGM Studios

I needed a break from the family again so I decided to wake up on my own and leave at my own time. I had taken a bath on this morning because I was exhausted from the previous 2 days. It felt so nice to sit and relax in the bath tub. I grabbed my stuff and was off to MGM Studios since we also had reservations at Mama Melroses so it felt like the perfect park to visit for this day.

I started off by accidently deleting all of the photos that I had taken on Wednesday & Thursday so I was on a photo spree, as I was just taking random shots of everything that I don't normally take on a throwaway camera. I made my way down Sunset Blvd and grabbed a fast pass for Rock n Roller Coaster. Since I didn't feel like waiting in line for Tower of Terror, I just kept on strolling around the park. I bought a powerade because I know I would need energy to keep me going through the day. First stop, was the backstage tour since that was another ride that I had skipped over on my last trip. I haven't been on this tour in years so I didn't realize that they combined both tours into one. The first stop was when they re-play a scene from pearl harbor, it was pretty cool but nothing special. Then we briefly glimpsed through the props section, I didn't really have time to stop and spot anything that I remembered. Now the Castrophe Canyon part was next, They had defnitely cut down this tour but at least they kept the Flight of the Navigator ship :).

Afterwards, I strolled along to Star Tours since it was only a 20 minute wait, I enjoy that ride every time I go on it, I guess I'm a big fan of Rex as he is probably the coolest anaimatronic made just for the parks. At the store, I bought Anthony and Melissa something small since I know they both like Star Wars. I noticed that it was almost time for the 11:30 showing of the new Light, Stunts, Motorcars Show but my fastpass for Rock N Roller Coaster was between 11:30-12:30 so I had to make a decision, I decided to see the stunt show since it was just about to start and I know if i waited to the next show, that it would probably be cutting it close to dinner reservations and I probably would miss the show altogether. Since I got there right as the show was to begin, I grabbed a seat in the last row but it was nice since that is right near the exit. The show was pretty neat, I like seeing the foreign cars with their loud engines, and the motorcycle chase scene was good. It's defnitely worth a second visit.

As soon as the show ended, I ran down the stairs and made my way back towards Rock n Roller Coaster, I ended up with the "Random Aerosmith Song that I don't know/Love in a Elevator/Rollercoaster" track. That thrill from going 0 to 60 MPH is the best thrill ever. On my way off the ride, I picked up a fastpass for Tower of Terror then made my way to The Great Movie Ride. I actually got to see the Cowboy scene since usually they only have one side running because it's usually the down time of the year. It was funny however because we got stuck in Munchkin Land as the next cars were still at the ending movie scene so the munchkins started disappearing and it was weird seeing everything go back to normal for the next "victims".

Back to ride Tower Of Terror for my only time on the ride during this trip but it's OK as that is a ride that I can go on once and be satisifed. Since I had covered the Sunset rides, I was starving so I needed PIZZA and where can you find good pizza in MGM....well PIZZA PLANET of course. The meal plan worked out well here since I got a salad, the pizza, and a cookie for dessert. I ate everything and it filled up enough to last me until Dinner at 6:50. I even took my sneakers off while I ate as my feet needed a breather. I figured I would actually enjoy myself by playing some arcade games. I found a Roller Coaster Tycoon pinball game, I almost p*** myself especially since Marylou and I have just found a recent addiction to this game. I even took some pictures of the game for her. I lasted a few minutes before losing all my balls. I even played the Virtual Boxing Game, I got so sweaty that I had to stop or else I'd kill myself.

Now I grabbed a fastpass for Indiana Jones since I wanted to make sure I got a good seat so I went to see the Little Mermaid show while waiting. I grabbed a front row seat for that too especially since I needed to hear my girlfriend, the Little Mermaid sing my song...."Part of Your World". I got chills going through me when I heard the song, it is so much better hearing it live then on a CD. The other songs are alright but hearing her sing the song, all by herself is such a charm.

It was getting close to 4:00 so I got inside but then it started to rain so I had a feeling that they would cancel the show. The guys came out and told us that they would only be showing the first scene since it was indoors so I was all disappointed that I couldn't be an extra :(. It actually stopped raining right after I left Indy Jones but it was still damp so I can see why they had to cancel it so I made my way onto Muppet Vision 3D. I grabbed a front row seat so I could see the Live Action Muppet up close even though I don't even know his name. I love the muppets but I think this is one of the 3D shows that needs updating. I even took a picture of the "Key Under the Mat, Back in 5 minutes" and I explored the preshow waiting area since I know the preshow video by heart already. It was neat exploring the preshow area instead of just standing there.

Since I had an hour to kill before dinner, I first grabbed a fastpass for Rock n Roller Coaster then I made my way to One Man's Dream and took my time reading and looking at everything. I saw the film and it was just enough time to get to Mama Melroses. Well my cell phone was dead so I was keeping time by my digital camera. I guess the timer was off since my family was already sitting down and had already ordered drinks. Mama Melroses was good but I just wasn't in the mood to eat a lot, probably because of the big lunch I had.

After dinner, I found out that the family had also grabbed a fastpass for Rock N Roller Coaster so I went on that ride with them. Kacie's face during the picture was real funny as she barely remembered the ride from when she was smaller. We finished the night by taking a nice family photo in front of the Hat which came out real good. I was tired and explored everything that I wanted to see at MGM so I made my way back to the hotel for 9:00 which was early for me compared to the other 2 nights.

I'm glad I went back early because Bob Jackson was performing at our hotel tonight. He is this real funny guy who plays piano in the Lounge. It's real fun if you get involved. I did and he picked on our family the whole night. We got this one song named "Sarah" stuck in our heads during the rest of the trip. I got his autograph for myself and my grandmother. We called him memere's boyfriend for the rest of the trip as well. Too bad he wasn't there for the rest of the trip but that one night alone put a lot of memories into my trip that I won't forget.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Saturday August 6th : Animal Kingdom / Magic Kingdom

As a family, we decided to wake up early today because we wanted to get to Animal Kingdom for the early morning hour. We didn't end up leaving on the bus until 8:00 however so we didn't arrive at AK for 8:30 but at least we managed to beat the regular crowds. Our plan for the day was to have Uncle Jamie and I run towards Everest with everyone's tickets to grab fastpasses for the ride. Since we were the fastest of the group, we got everyone a fastpass for 10:00 to 11:00. It was 8:50 by the time we grabbed the fastpasses so we met them at a restaurant in Africa as noone had breakfast yet. We all grabbed breakfast, I only grabbed a muffin as I didn't want anything to stop me from going on Everest. Since I had finished early, I went across the building and went gift shopping for Marylou. Since she likes tigers, I thought I had picked her up a tiger statue but stupid me, It was a cheetah. I just wasn't thinking but she likes cheetahs too so it's all good in the end. It's the thought that counts :). It was getting close to 10:00 so we could grab our next fast pass so we grabbed one for the Safari since we were right there.

We walked right onto Everest, It was awesome, I got the biggest thrill when we went backwards, I got the adrenline rush and then the big drop came and I almost lost my vocal chords because I was screaming throughout the ride. Since it was my first time on the ride, I had to get the photo but it sucked because all 6 of my family was in one photo while I was in the next car being the odd person out. But I still bought the photo, I look so happy in it, and boy I was. By the time, we were done with Everest, we could grab our next fastpass so we grabbed one for Kali River Rapids. I wasn't too sure if I wanted to ride it but since I rode on the Six Flags one, I knew I could do this one, and I had to make Marylou proud since she said it was better than the Six Flags one.

We made our way onto Safari, we had a nice young lady who was just starting the day off so she wasn't tired so she was very enthusiastic about everything. It was already reaching 90 degrees so the animals were very hard to find. We saw the hippos, rhinos, alligators, giraffes, lions, cheetahs (barely) and some other animals that I can't name. It was just very hard to find the animals but it was still fun. The short wait helped a lot too.

Now it was time to go onto Kali River Rapids, everything was just running so smooth with the fastpasses today. Before we went on the ride, the sign says you must wear shoes but noone listend of course as everyone on our boat took off their shoes. I left my on, I just lifted my feet up from the floor. It was great because my Uncle rode next to this 4 year old and they just kept on busting on each other, blaming each other for getting the wettest. She was the cutest little girl ever and since my uncle is the biggest ball buster there is, he harrassed her pretty bad but she had a loud mouth too so they were perfect for each other. Just being with my Uncle Jamie made the ride 10x better, just seeing who would get the wettest and they defnitely did.

Once again, Uncle Jamie and I made our way to Dinosaur with everyone's tickets and grabbed a fastpass for that while everyone waited near "It's Tough to be a Bug". We rode that while waiting for our Dinosaur Fastpass. Mom and I got split up from the group but I'm glad we did because i'll admit I jumped a few times and I'm glad my mom was the only one who saw it. This show was better this time since I had actually seen "A Bug's Life" now so i'd appreciated the characters a little bit more. As soon as we got off, It was time to ride dinosaur. It was my relatives' first time on Dinosaurs so it was cool seeing their reaction after we got off. Since I knew where they take your picture, I stuck my tongue out lol. What I didn't know was that they were buying the picture haha.

By this time, like 1:00, we were all pooped and it was real hot so we went back to the hotel. I needed a nap for the first time on this trip so I went straight to bed and lied down and it felt GGGGGREAT. We had reservations at Kona Cafe for 5:30 so it worked out perfectly in the end. I was planning on going to Typhoon Lagoon after dinner but it started to rain and cooled everything down so it wasn't worth it and since Magic Kingdom was the closest park, I went there after dinner. I was going to hang with the relatives but they were taking too long to take a picture in front of the castle so I went on my own. The first thing I saw was Mickey's PhillarMagic. It's a great 3D show as Donald is such a wonderful character. I bought a cute little stuffed Donald afterwards too. Then I stayed in Fantasyland and rode Snow White. For some reason, even though these fantasyland rides are built for the young kids, I remember going on these rides as a young kid so going on them now brings back the memories so it makes me feel like a young kid again. I continued to Tomorrowland and waited in line for Space Mountain since it was only a 20 minute wait then saw Carousel of Progress AGAIN (what can I say? I love that show.)

Then I went to frontierland and saw the last showing of the Country Bear Jamboree. It was probably the first time that I've seen the REGULAR showing of it in a long long time. It seems like every time, it's always the christmas show. I waited in line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and there was no line so that was pleasent and that ride is always better in the dark. Then I made my way to adventureland, I was about to go onto the Swiss Family Treehouse when I started talking to this College Cast memeber. We had a nice conversation and she told me that she enjoyed working here and she has made a lot of new friends from all over the world. She even said that I already have the Disney Touch. We talked for a good 10 minutes and I feel a lot better about working at Disney after chatting with her. I finally made my way onto the treehouse. I just breezed through it but it's still good nonetheless and a different experience at night.

It was getting late so I just walked peacefully throughout the park, heading to fantasyland again to finish the night with Wishes again. Tonight I called Marylou up during the fireworks and I started to get real emotional. It was the first time that I heard her voice so it really hit me that I missed her so much. We didn't talk for long since my long distance plan sucks but the few minutes that I did talk with her was wonderful, and it didn't help Wishes was playing in the background to make it even more emotional.

Afterwards, It took a lonnnng time to get out of the Magic Kingdom after the fireworks but I eventually passed out as soon as I got back to the room.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

We were all born in America but our heritage is French (both sides of the family) and since I grew up calling her memere, I just continue calling her memere from now on just because it feels better.

Sunday August 6th: Magic Kingdom / Typhoon Lagoon / Pleasure Island

I planned on going to Typhoon Lagoon at least once during my trip but I still wanted to go back to Magic Kingdom at least once more before the last day. Since it's near impossibile to go on some rides during the middle of the day, I went to the Magic Kingdom on my own, bright and early. I had my schedule planned out. I went straight to Tomorrowland and was about to get a fastpass for Space Mountain but some lady was nice enough to give me her fastpass which was on now so I went straight on that so that was a good wakeup call. Then I made my way to fantasyland and grabbed a fastpass for Peter Pan's Flight, now I was going to see the Hall of Presidents but the first show wasn't until 10:00 so I strolled along
( Liberty Square )

I checked out the liberty belle then made my way near the hub to see Cinderellbration from a distance. It seems like an alright show but something that I can miss. It was getting close to 10:00 so I grabbed a nice seat in the middle. This was another show that I usually miss but I'm glad I didn't this time, I like history and I like this show. I like it when they introduce all the presidents, It feels so patriotioc then especially when they end it with "Hail to the Chief".

Now it was time for my fastpass for Peter Pan, it wasn't a long walk from the Hall of Presidents so I wasn't backtracking much. Of all of the dark rides, Peter Pan is clearly my favorite. I'm not sure if its because I love the movie so much or It's my first memory of Disney World since back in 1993, it was the frst ride I remember going on. I made my way to Adventureland. I saw a GOOD replica of Captain
( Jack Sparrow )
and was going to grab a fastpass for
( Jungle Cruise )
but they weren't on for the day so I just waited in line since it was only a 20 minute wait and I promised myself that I would go on the ride. Jungle Cruise is one of those rides that you don't need to see everytime you go down there but since it was my first time in ages, It was nice to finally go on. Our skipper had a good dry sense of humor so it made the ride a little bit better.

Then after that, I saw the Enchanted Tiki Room. This time, I stayed until the very end and got the Iago saying "Aw i'm tired, I think I'll go take a nap at the Hall of Presidents" quote. The cast member didn't kick me out of the building as she let me stay until the very end even when everyone else had left. On my way out, I was hungry so I stopped at Casey's Corner and grabbed some Corndog nuggetts. My brother introduced them to me during the last trip and they were so good that I defnitely had to grab them. It was peaceful to just sit back and relax, listening to the Main Street performers singing the song that is so addicting.

I made my way to the monorail because I needed a bus to Typhoon Lagoon. Now I thought there was a bus at the TTC but I found out that there is no bus to Typhoon Lagoon at the TTC but there is one available at the Polynesian so I had to walk to the Polynesian bus stop, luckily it wasn't too far but I saw a bus already at the Bus stop from a good distance away. I couldn't see what bus it was but I ran anyway and it happened to be the Typhoon Lagoon bus. I'm glad I made it just in time or else I would have to wait another 20 minutes.

I had to grab a locker since I had my camera, cell phone, wallet with me, and a towel. No big deal. I grabbed a seat and went straight to the lazy river and just sat there for a long time and it felt so good. I eventually got off the lazy river and went on Humunga Cowabunga then waited in a 30 minute line for Shark Reef. It's the main reason why I chose Typhoon Lagoon over Blizzard Beach so I had to go on it. It was neat, It just feels like the fish are withing inches of you, and I get so scared since I hate fish but I love the feeling at the same time, it's weird. I even went in the wave pool and I got sackkkkkked. I went to the 7 foot line to reach the best waves and to avoid bumping into someone as the pool was crowded at the 4 foot marker. I got so tired after a few waves so I went back and lied down for awhile before I went back on the lazy river / humunga cowabunga again. I left Typhoon around 330 and made it back to the hotel around 4:15, I got hot again pretty fast so I was gonna go in our hotel pool but I get there and find out some little kid pooped in the pool so they had to close it for 24 hours. So I went to the pool bar instead and grabbed a Mai Tai. Since the bartender had no business, she put a lot more liqour in the Mai Tai than normal so that felt good. Afterwards, I went in the hot tub and that felt good on the back and the feet.

We had reservations at Boatwrights, the restaurant at our hotel, I drank a lynchberg lemonade there so I was buzzed and feeling good. We had planned to go to Pleasure Island tonight so we went back to the room for a bit, had a beer then made our way to Pleasure Island. We took the boat from our hotel to Downtown Disney then made our way into Manequins, it was my first time in there and it was different. They had a rotating floor! Well since it was Sunday and early, there was noone there so we grabbed a drink and booked out. I had another Bud Light then made our way to 8*Trax. I danced with the mom and the aunt for a bit but I needed another drink so I got a "Leisure Suit", it was good, I dont remember what was in it lol. Then I wanted to hear some Rock n Roll and it was good because there was a live band on, they were pretty good, I'm not sure of their name but they said they had a "myspace" so it would be cool to find out who they were. We also each bought this drink that came in a beach bucket, it was the bucket that would never end. Then we saw the Comedy Show (my first time), we sat front row and it was pretty good. It was an improv show and since we sat front row, they heard most of our answers to their questions first. We finished the night back at the Rock n Roll Beach Club and I grabbed another Bud Light then we took the bus back. We have a funny after drunk picture that we took in front of our room. Now my dad set my camera on a timer but he wasn't sure if he was going to make it in time for the camera so we started giggling like little girls watching my dad run in time to make the picture.

Let's just say, the next morning wasn't so pretty. But I didn't puke! :)

Monday August 7th : Boat Ride / EPCOT / Animal Kingdom

Well since we all had a late night on Sunday, We made no plans to go to any of the parks on Monday Morning so we took out a pontoon boat from our hotel. We followed the river to Port Orleans FQ and continued down the river to Downtown Disney. Uncle Jamie drove through the river part but we ended up in the Downtown Disney lake, He let my dad and I drive around the lake a bit. It was real cool seeing all of downtown disney and just driving around all 8 of us. We took it out for an hour than I booked my way to the bus stop. Once again, I got real lucky as there was an EPCOT bus right there already.

Since I had a few hours to kill before our reservation, I went straight to the Universe of Energy since its the only thing I havent seen at EPCOT yet. It was peaceful but I was real tired from the night before so I kind of fell alsleep during parts of it. More yawning than sleeping though. Then I made my way to the World Showcase, and checked out Mexico and actually explored all of the shops since I knew Marylou likes stuff from the Mexico pavillion. It was the first time where I had actually stopped and looked at the stuff on sale. I picked up a small vase with fake flowers in it, it's cute. I also bought myself a sweet shot glass that says Mexico on it. It's real neat. Then I made my way to Norway and explored all of their shops too. I picked up a nice glass from there as well, I really wanted to collect something from each country. Now China was next and I was just walking around when I saw a female character all by herself. There was noone around her and I'm like, is that really Mulan? I almost crapped myself, I started getting real excited like a little girl. I went up to her and asked if I could have a picture with her. I told her that "I love you Mulan". So corny but I was so happy to find her for the first time and get a picture with her. I made the cast memeber took 2 pictures in case one didndt come out well but they both came out great :).

It was almost 2:00 so I made my way to Germany. My parents were running a little wait so I went and sat inside waiting for them. I grabbed a 32 ounce becks beer that went down pretty good. We had front row seats so we had a GREAT view of the show that they perform while you eat. It was all-you-can eat so I grabbed a lot to go down with the beer so I was feelin' pretty good afterwards. Now I made my way to Animal Kingdom after dinner as Animal Kingdom had the EMH and I had to go back to see some of the shows that I missed and to ride Everest again.

I got to AK around 4:30 and got my wristband first. Then I noticed that all of the fastpasses for Everest were distributed already so I waited in the standby line. It was going to be a 45-60 min wait so the line moved pretty well but I wasn't sure how long the queue line was going to be since I hadn't waited in the standby line yet but I made a friend while waiting in line. He was some older guy with his young kid who were going on the ride for the first time. They were from Missouri and it was nice to talk to them as it made the line seem shorter. It ended up only being a 40 minute wait which wasn't too bad and the second time was even better than the first. The Missouri people enjoyed the ride as well and I'm glad I didn't dissapoint them by telling them how much I really enjoyed it. Afterwards, I made my way to the Safari and there was no line at all so I walked right on the next available vechile. I figured since it was a little bit cooler (still in the 80s) that there would be more animals out and about. It was still kind of the same show but it was good to go on the Safari for the second time to see a little different show. The Rhinos came right up to our vechile to eat some grass which was neat. The cast member was real tired since it was near the end of his day so I can defnitely understand how he was feeling so not only is the ride better in the morning because of the animals but for the cast members as well.

Now the festival of the lion king show had their only show at 7:00 and it was close to 6:00 when I got off the Safari. I explored the Pangari Walking Tour which I saw some gorilla and this REAL loud annoying small bird. Otherwise, I just kept on walking and enjoying the scenary. Then I went back to Everest and rode it again, this time with a FASTER standby line since there were no more people with fastpasses during EMH. It was like a 20 minute wait. This time, I made friends with a young couple behind me who were from Worcester, Mass. They noticed my Providence Bruins shirt that I had on lol. Even the THIRD time, the ride just kept on getting better. I love seeing the rest of Walt Disney World going up the hill and I was the second car so before you start going backwards, you can see some more from outside too.

It was 6:40 so I made my way to the festival of the lion king as I was feeling that this would be the last thing that I would do and head back to the hotel. The festival of the lion king was a real fun show, it was my first time seeing it and I was in the Lion section and I liked the interaction with the crowd and of course the Lion King songs are real good so it was nice hearing them in a live setting.

I went back to the hotel and passed out at 9:00 before anyone else was inside the room. Too bad everyone woke me up when they came back into the room and I didn't end up sleeping until 11:30 but I was starting to feel sick as I had a cold. It sucked but not even a cold was going to stop me from being at Disney World!

Tuesday August 8th : EPCOT

Today I had planned since Day 2 that I would be returning to EPCOT and spending a whole day there on my own and thats what I did. I left around 8:30 as I wanted to get to the park for the opening. I got there and briefly re-checked my picture on the "Leave A Legacy" then took my time just walking over to Soarin'. I was sick of running from ride to ride so I just relaxed on this day. It was nice to just appreciate everything and I could defnitely feel like the end of the vacation was near so I didn't wanna leave this wonderful place.

I made my way to Soarin' and grabbed a fastpass for 10:00 to 11:00 then I made it over to Test Track and waited in the Standby Line for that since it was only 10 minutes. I also like to read all of the tests that a car goes through while waiting in the standby line. As we get closer, the ride breaks down for 5 minutes but it went back to normal. Afterwards, I bought a mini replica toy of the car vechile for my room. I plan to keep it in the box to keep it in mint condition. Now I strolled over to Mission Space which was also a 20 minute wait. I got to be the Engineer again which I was disappointed since I thought I was going to be something different at first. It was only 3 of us in the ship so the guy got to press 2 buttons. It was pretty fun, I like making random friends on rides. Now it was time for my Soarin' fastpass so I strolled back over, but first I stopped and saw the Kristos perform, I love their act, their just so amazing with the things that they can do. I wish I could some of the stuff that they do. I'm glad that they are still around, I just feel bad for them and their hot suits.

So I rode Soarin' again, this time in the bottom rom, and it felt weird at first because you could obviously see the bottom of the screen which ruined the illusion at first but I sat back and I just forgot about it and it was fine. I even spotted the 2 hidden mickeys (the golf ball and fireworks). It is such an awesome ride and an awesome score to listen too. It is just a peaceful ride. I needed to take a break so I went to the Imagination pavillion and rode that ride again then sat at the fountains for a good 20 minutes and waited for Figment to come out and take photos. I played with the fountains for a bit but I didnt want my camera to get soaked so I just enjoyed everyone else getting soaked. Figment came out and I got the first picture with him for the day :). The first of the many characters that I saw today.

Well while waiting for Figment, I noticed on the time card that Belle would be in France at 12:30 so I strolled on over to France since I already spent alot of time in the UK/Canada area on Thursday. When I got to France, I saw Belle and Sleeping Beauty so I took my picture with the both of them especially since I've never seen Sleeping Beauty before at Walt Disney World. Then I got an awesome piece of cake at France, It was so delicious. The desserts in france are the best. Then the next showing of the France Movie was 1:30 so I went to Morocco and explored the shops there and got a picture with Aladdin and Jasmine. While I was there, I had my first beer....Casa Beer (moroccan beer). It was pretty good but what beer isnt good when its the first one of the day. I made my way back to France and finally saw that movie for the first time. Once again, the score of that ride is real good too but defnitely needs to be updated. I didn't know that it wasn't a 360 film and they actually had seats so that was enjoyable.

Now the next pavillion was Japan, I love Japan because of all the backyard shops that they have. The toy shop has some pretty cool rare toys but I remember Marylou saying that she loves stuff from Japan so I explored through and through and couldn't find anything. So I was going to pass on Japan until I saw a little shop on the street making necklaces where you engrave a name on it. SO obviously I engraved Marylou (in japenese) and a symbol for love on it. I love Marylou :). Then after, I went up the stairs to find somewhere where I could get SAKE since I have never had it and Mark, anthony and Aaron all love it. I went to the restaurant that they have and I asked the server if there was anywhere where I could get sake on draft. She hooked me up and didn't even card me, which was weird. I saw the Japenese performers while enjoying my Sake.

Next up was America, The next showing wasn't for another 45 minutes so I stopped in the American pavillion to find out that there was no more foot long hot dogs so I went to Germany to grab a nice Brattwurst. They were even better than Anthonys hehe. On the way, I saw the bad guys from Pincohio, I forget their names and I grabbed a picture with the main female mouse from Cinderella. Then I went on the American Show and I actually didn't fall asleep! It's a lot better when you're older, you appreicate everyting so much more. I had a front row seat too so looking at the animatronics up close was good and I love the 2 songs, "Two Brothers" and "Golden Dream".

Stopped in Italy, and explored their shops too but didn't see anything of the tastes. I saw the performer there, "Sergio". It was a pretty neat show and I even got involved as he threw the soccer ball to me and I had to make it in the end and even in my buzzed state, I made it in the end, I was shocked. It was funny and could to get a laughter into the day. Passed by Germany since I was there the other day when we ate there. Then headed to China, I did a lot more exploring here and saw Mulan out again, it brought a smile to my face, I asked if Mushu ever came out to take pictures and that was a no-no. I grabbed a Tsingtao on the run as I always thought it was bad beer but it really wasn't that bad on draft. While drinking my Tsingtao, I saw the China film and it's a neat 360 show but what isnt one?

Back to Norway and explored the Church and I noticed they changed some of the stuff inside and read all the information on it, Very interesting. Last and Not least was Mexico. I grabbed a Margerita in Mexico then called Marylou and talked with her for a good 10 minutes then told her I had to cross the border and go to Canada to see Off Kilter one more time. I grabbed a front row seat and I defnitely enjoyed their own song "Alive". Then I saw one more show of the British Invasion, they closed with "A Hard Day's Night" but I loved "8 Days a Week". The British Invasion has made me love the beatles again haha. I finished the night off by trying the soda fountains but to my dismay, they did not have the crappy italian cola :( then rode Spaceship Earth once again to end my day at EPCOT.

That was my day as afterwards, I was plannning on going to Downtown Disney but I was sacked so I just went back to the hotel, grabbed some grub then went in the pool/hot tub. I made my friends from Boston then hung out with the family in the lounge. Too bad Bob Jackson wasn't performing.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

yep. I can trace my family back at least that far. probably a bit farther if I wanted.

the one who signed the DoI was Roger Sherman, his signature isn't too far away from John Hancock's (but as his is so big, is there any signature that's very far away?). The civil war general was William Tecumseh Sherman, who became famous for 2 reasons. For those that don;t know, he's the one who came up with the idea of a "scorched earth" policy by burning everything in sight from Atlanta to Savannah, GA in his famous "March to the Sea". He also coined the phrase "War is Hell" (actually, this is the quote - "There is many a boy here today who looks on war as all glory, but, boys, it is all hell. – From an address to the graduating class of the Michigan Military Academy, June 19, 1879, known as his "War is hell" speech ).

Well, enough off-topic. Reading these posts make me wish I could control time. I want to go down so bad now...

eh, it's not a problem. I lived in GA midway between Savannah and Jacksonville FL about 5 or 6 years ago. no probalems whatsoever. And in any case, even if we have to stop in GA, I'll let you pay for the gas/food there just in case...
