look here before you travel. If you're planning of driving to either of the us parks, and you're trying to estimate gas prices, I've found a tool on AAA.com. You enter in your starting city (or closest one) and then enter the destination. Then you put in the make, model, and year of your car. it estimates what you'll pay in gas round trip based on the current gas prices and EPA estimates for gas milage on your vehicle.

Also keep in mind that EPA mileage estimates are almost ALWAYS higher than what you'll actually get driving around. Looking at my own calculations for my car vs. theirs, I'd say you need to add 10-15% to their estimated cost to get an accurate guess

This handy little tool will help!!
It's in our favor that our route goes from Chattanooga to WDW (all I-75) . If you look it's some of the lowest gas prices in the country. We've been doing it long enough that I can tell you which exits have the cheepest county/city gas taxes!!
When we drove down for Christmas, I believe it cost us about $110, or four tanks of gas. That's three for the highway and one we use in The Altmont Springs-Oralndo-Kissimmee-Winter Haven area.
Now you we could find a way to calculate what my DW will spend at the outlet malls while we're there!!

Jeepers.. I will never take my truck on a trip.. From indianapolis to Orlando and back would cost me $382.50!
We paid less then 250$ for our last set of plane tickets and with the magical express there is just no reason to drive.

For us, this makes driving a no-brainer... $88 to get from the Bay Area to Disneyland in our Toyota Highlander Hybrid, vs. about $110 a piece to fly (and there's no Magical Express at Disneyland!)

That's pretty neat. For me a round trip would cost what I'd pay for one round-trip plane fare/ Since there are two of us, that's a good savings, but I'd have to figure in a motel each way plus meals. I guess it's about equal in cost, but road trips can be fun!

Great site - I used it to estimate cost of driving versus flying for our last minute trip this past week - no brainer with $3.00/gallon gas - we flew!

When will Disney come out with a "mouse" hybrid, that get's exceptional gas mileage to and from the parks? We actually have been asked several times if others could "borrow" our Prius to drive from Indiana to WDW. Borrow? No! Rent? Sure, anything to fund our next Disney adventure!

Problem is, they don't have my nearest "city" (Melbourne, FL) in their list, so I can't really tell.

Thank you, Walt, for making animation what it is today.

They don't have Austin. It's a capitol city.
Please keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle until the ride comes to a full and complete stop. Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your day here at Walt Disney World.

Ketira,
The parking lot at Florida Tech (by the dorm quad) to the parking lot of the Magic Kingdom is 64.7 miles one way using 192. Figure out where you are in relation to FIT and you can figure out the cost.
Back in the mid 90's, when I was working at the Seas, I was making the trip 2-5 times per week. At the ~$.90 to 1.20/gallon it was back then, using my Contour, it typically cost me $5 for the round trip.
Regards,
Aaron
