I don't actually mind the long tracks. They usually have a good theme and a lot of shorter songs in them. The Land interior loop in particular isn't really Disney songs, but I can remember sitting having an ice cream there with my Dad and hearing that music. I guess that's what it's all about. Bringing back the memories.

I particularly dread seeing any track over 10 minutes long. For me, it's the variety that makes this station. Full shows and area music are great listening too, but I prefer otherwise.
I definitely agree with sockfire. I think it clogs the station and reduces variety. For example, last night two SIXTY MINUTE TRACKS were requested one after another...wasn't exactly the best two hours of Subsonic Radio I've heard...

The worst track in my opinion would be Adventures through innerspace.

I request tone of them sorry and then rich did a 50 min one both of which were never requested before only played 4 times so it was like they are really never played. Sorry again really didn't mean for that to happen.

Wow, that's gotta be one of the best. Have you been on the ride? I think that plays into it quite a bit.

Heh!

I requested the 60 minute Land song right after eagle4life's whopper long song just for rudekick cause he was complaing about it in the irc. :)
The long songs deserve every bit of air time!
Go long songs, its your birthday, its your birthday, its your birthday.

Inner space does stink up the station pretty bad too. It seems like my cube fills with rotten air everytime that track comes on.

I enjoy the longer background music tracks - they are pretty diverse if you actually listen to the music being played with a good batch of themed music [like the Land mentioned above]. And it is a nice break from the short clips, sometimes flipping between all the parks in 10 minutes or less can get strange!

im beginning to like the longer tracks because theyre easily listening. or when i have an essay to write, its good bg music since i can't ( im talking about the instrumental ones) sing along with it. or if i want to take a nap..

Hey, i'm new here, first post! Real good topic, and I just wanted to throw my two cents in on the long vs. short song debate: Personally i love the longer songs (Then again, i'm a big deadhead so i guess that makes me a bit biased :) ).

Seriously though, I'm real impressed with the way they manage to stretch some of the shorter themes, like the haunted mansion or pirates, while still keeping them interesting by using different keys, tempoes or instruments. Plus the shorter songs are easy to find other places on the net, so this is one of the few places you can hear longer pieces.

Personally the newer poppy songs or the jokey remakes of classic/folk songs are the ones that really get me PO'ed. I'm a bit of a disney traditionalist, and the newer commercial songs kinda have a horrible "Hey-i'm-Michael-Eisner-please-give-me-your-money" feel to them. But its a matter of taste i guess...

I actually like the Land background music very calming although I will agree having two 60 minute tracks back to back might be a bit much but dont forget when someone does that they wont get to request much else for a little while unless their points is up in the 5000 range.

Another one thats long and all it does is repeat the same sound over and over again

disneyland - new orleans square
haunted mansion - knob turn & grunt
