I threw out almost everything. The fridge was definitely over 40° for more than 2 hours, and it looked like a lot of the freezer stuff had melted and started to refreeze. Neither was very full so it doesn't hold as long as it could have. I've had food poisoning once in my life and it is nothing I care to ever experience again. Better safe than sorry in my opinion. I did give some things to a friend who doesn't think stuff really spoils other than mayo. She has a cast iron stomach and nothing really bothers her.

Safe is definitely better, I agree and probably would have done the same thing, grudgingly though because I hate throwing food out (evidenced by the jar of jam in my fridge that has gone mouldy and I will never eat but never seem to think to grab before putting out the garbage).

Sweltering is a very good word for it here too ~ still supposed to be hot the next few days, but also stormy so I'm holding out hope it will be a bit cooler. I told my friend today I am ready for winter because I can always put on more clothes to get warm, but am having problems removing enough to stay cool this summer! And a big AMEN to the a/c!
