Flatland - how'd you get Journey Into Imagination? Did you request attractions specificially?

Imagination, one of my favorites. I can't wait to hear more. Will you be down there in August (because I'll be down there).

I'm sorry. I miss them too. I just generally miss being so close to WDW.

Is there any update as to your situation as a potential CP? It's been a while.

And Flatland Mounty- where are you?

Well the semsester is over (both spring and summer) But yeah theres not really antyhign left to comment. I just have to wait it out until Sprng 07 when I apply for the program (the fall program of 07). But anyways, I only have 30 days until my vacation to Disney so I will probably have a few comments after that trip :) :) :)

A trip to WDW? Have lots of fun! I'm jealous, I really am. I wasn't too sure on what was happening with your situation. Sounds like you're just waiting for the recruiting time to roll around.

Oh, and here's something I wanted to say. Keep in touch with people you meet in WDW, friends and co-workers alike! But you should tell them which time zone you live in, so you don't get any phone calls at 8:46am, or text messages at 7am once you're back home.

I will be staying at Port Orleans - Riverside for 8 days, 7 nights during the first week of August and I will defnitely have a day by day report of when I come back. I just bought my first digital camera too with a 1 GB memory card so I can take up to 400 pictures. I will defnitely have a lot of pictures to take as well. I will defnitely use the camera during my college program as well.

But Lion, yeah when I was asking all those questions to you, I just wanted to make sure what I had to do to make sure I am qualified and if the school allowed it and stuff. I figured I would do that early enough so I can be ready without any hesitation once I apply in the spring. I will defnitley have more questions if I get accepeted into the program come next spring about what to bring down there etc etc.

I just got back from my Disney World trip.
And Lionl, What zoned area did you cover again in MGM. I remember something about the Star Tours area, I know your not there now but when I walked by that area, It made me smile remembering all your comments.

And I DEFNITELY want to work at Disney now. I had a few conversations with some very nice college program members, some of them were Custodial Crew Members (some in MK, some in EPCOT) and some worked at the cash register. I made friends with this girl in Canada who just started and some girl working the Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride. I can't wait for the Fall of 07.

I'm still deciding which park will be the best for me.

Just curious, what kind of GPA and stuff do they look for in that program. I was thinking about doing it back in college, but was afraid you needed like a 3.7 or above, and unfortunatly mine was not that high. I'd hate to think i missed out and I could have actually gotten in.
Please keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle until the ride comes to a full and complete stop. Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your day here at Walt Disney World.

Sounds like you had a blast! Awesome that you could meet some CMs already! CPs are always fun to talk to- full timers it really depends.

I did work the area around the Great Movie Ride courtyard(big hat), Indiana Jones and Echo Lake, all the way to Star Tours, then down to Muppets and Sci-fi on Commissary Lane....it's a big area(and all the restrooms in between).

Oh awesome, I didn't feel like searching through the whole post to find it.

I did see some custodial cast members in that area too, probably the people who replaced you / full timers.

I also realized that MGM would be a hard park for myself to work in, I had a tough time finding the shortest way to get to certain areas of the park, and that is what a custodial should do when he/she needs to answer a question asked by a guest. That is why I feel like I would be better off working in EPCOT or the Magic Kingdom.

Now, most of your jobs, did they just consist of being inside during one day; cleaning restrooms.......... and outside; emptying trash cans, puke, sweeping up trash AND when it rains, use a brush to drain the water, I saw that near MGM, I took a picture of someone doing that)

I also actually saw a custodial cleaning up puke on a floormat entering the Emporium in the Magic Kingdom, I felt so bad, I wanted to help. It looked like he was using the "Magic Dust" that I use at my job whenever we have a liquid spill on the floor that soaks up the stuff.

Expect more questions in the next few days. After exploring the Magic that is Disney World for the past few days and APPRECIATING the work of the cast members a lot more, I have plenty of questions.

Jrcohen- As for the GPA thing- I'm not too sure. As long as you have a C or higher, you should be fine I would think. I wanted to say something about rocks and the brain matter of certain CMs, but I'll refrain.

packwingfn- Even towards the end of my program, I had some trouble telling guests how to get from place to place becaus we were doing construction and certain walkways were blocked, lol. The best thing to do is to walk around the entire place until you know it like the back of your hand, and can express it in words(gesturing, even with the Disney point, doesn't help too much).

For a custodial it depends. There are more guys than girls doing custodial. So if you're a girl, chances are that you'll be pulled to be in restrooms more often than on the streets. If you're a guy, then you'll probably be on streets more. Generally you'll have a few days of streets and a few days of restrooms in a row. I had to request to be put on streets, cuz I missed the sunlight.

If you're on streets, then you should do that for your entire shift, unless something happens. If it rains, it's your job to dry the streets, benches, trash cans, railings and the ground. If you're in restrooms and it rains, be prepared to do a lot of floor drying. In the late spring/summer, chances are if it rains the weather will dry everything in a matter of minutes though.

Don't know what MK uses, but MGM uses Voban(it's orange smelling sawdust).

It was sad being replaced. But oh well.
