WDW Wedding and Honeymoon Planning

So, my cousin (who is like a sister to me) is getting married In Early August. Her fiance has never been to Disney World, so she is taking him for his first trip for their honeymoon.

I was wondering if people had suggestions of stuff that:

1)First Timers would enjoy

2)Newlyweds would enjoy

3)People love to see that is rare (I'm going to be working down their when they go, so if there is CM and Family only stuff...that too)

I kind of want to help them plan an awesome trip, or even buy them a fancy dinner at someplace.

I spent my honeymoon in Orlando in 1994. The biggest mistake we made was trying to see everything; all of WDW, Sea World, Universal .... My biggest suggestion for them is to pace themselves. If they are just going to do WDW I would suggest staying at one of the WDW resorts and if money isn't an object one of the monorail resorts. They should plan at least one if not two days to do nothing but go to the pool or bop around DTD for a break.

Downtown Disney.

Fun things for newlyweds to do? Well... make sure they get a nice hotel room at a deluxe in a good location. There's nothing quite like a bus to kill a romantic mood.

Unfortunately, even at a Deluxe resort you still have to take a bus to Downtown Disney and the Animal Kingdom. Bottom line is anywhere you stay, you'll have to deal with busses eventually. (Unless you're like my family and take cabs to the parks off the monorail line... a bit over the top if you ask me. But, if you're in a romantic mood, spaulo is right--avoid the bus.)

True, but the deluxes... my choice is the Epcot area... give you the option of not taking a bus, at least some of the time, to some places.

Compare that to staying at, say, Port Orleans French Quarter... a lovely little resort, romantic, well-themed, great pool... and your only non-bus option is a boat to Downtown Disney. Everywhere else is bus.

If you're at, say, the Yacht Club, you can walk to Epcot, walk or boat to Studios, and if it works out (and, most of the time, it will) you can walk through Epcot to the monorail station and take that to the Magic Kingdom. 3 out of 5 major destinations sans bus ain't bad.

Whatever they do please tell them to not rent a car from an offsite car rental place. I would rather not say who, but we waited for over 3 hours just to get a car back in 99. We only had 3 days for our honeymoon so it really bummed us out. We did 3 parks in one day and the Magic Kingdom the other. I would just recommend them taking there time and really planning everything out. With it being early August tell them to use a Fast Pass as much as possible. Crowds will be pretty bad and it will be pretty hot. Oh and make sure they see Wishes and Illuminations.

Dinner at the chef's table at V&A would is a killer evening for any couple, especially on your honeymoon. We stayed at the GF for our honeymoon and we rented a vehicle so not to have to tool around on a bus.

Ugh. This makes me wish we could afford doing up WDW (and doing it up right) for our honeymoon next year...

ok, so that's enough about hotels...what about attractions, shows, places to eat? anyone know of stuff that's really rare? really nice? available for employees and family only?

My advice is to buy the Mickey & Minnie wedding hats

. It was really fun wearing them and having everyone congratulate us. It also resulted in free wine or dessert at dining locations.

That does sound like a good idea I wish we had done that!

A dinner at the California Grill at the time they are doing the fireworks show at the MK would be a good honeymoon thing to do. If they are Lady and the Tramp fans; how about a romantic Italian meal at Tony's on Mainstreet!

Not sure if they still do it, but there used to be a "cruise" available where they'd take you in a boat to watch Illuminations directly on the lagoon at Epcot. (You watch it under the bridge by France.)

That was a lot of fun, and pretty romantic.

You can also do a Wishes Cruise - we did this last summer and it was amazing to watch Wishes from the lagoon on a private boat.

Captain Schnemo, I'm sorry...but that picture makes me laugh. Just looking at that angry face while reading "That was a lot of fun, and pretty romantic." cracks me up.

Lots of good suggestions. Keep them coming...I've got until the end of July to come up with some stuff.
