Maybe with the new management they will change their view of the parks, from a cash cow to a beloved themed resort.

I hate the graveyard, too, and have never been even remotely tempted to have myself immortalized on one of the tombstones. Time enough for that when I'm dead.
The website "Re-Imagineering" had an interesting post about how Leave a Legacy was designed. The author of the post, who consulted on the project, had originally envisioned it in lucite or glass, which would have been a bit more attractive. It's an interesting read, as is the entire website, if you haven't checked it out.
Here's a link to the article:

I found my "limited edition poster" from Epcot. I will scan it into my computer and try to add it to the forum. I am going to scan at low pix so everyone can see it.The print is dated 1984. Maybe we should email this to the Disney Dudes!

Ummmmmm. I like the Rocks. I think they are artistic and add a bit of geometry and visual texture to the area. (And Hubby and I had our pics done for this in '04) :p
But opinions are like bellybuttons....... everyone has their own.

I do think they kind of make the entrance very unwelcoming. It's like you have to navigate a labyrinth as you enter, I'm afraid a minotaur will jump out from behind one of the Legacy stones and gore me with its tusks. Also, the pictures they put up are a) tiny as can be and b) easily faded. I will say I don't think it's as distasteful as the Wand though. EPCOT, although very much a part of Disney and features Walt's ideas about the future and technology, seems to be a giant sign of the errosion of Walt's original dream. Granted, EPCOT was never intended to be a theme park but rather an actual city of the future, EPCOT Center (before it became just Epcot) was a place apart from the Disney cartoons and entertainment-industry largely - focusing on mankind's achievements in technology and in culture. Now with Nemo moving into "The Seas" and Mickey's big hand jutting up along SSE with who knows what in store for The Wonders of Life Pavillion it just seems to be turning into another MK/Studios what have you.
Anyway, back on topic, the stones are bad but they could be worse in my opinion knock on wood

HA HA HA HA......... Yeah the wand is a little much for SSE. It was a great idead to put up the 2000 on it for the big celebration, but come on leave it alone now. What is the wand supossed to be doing anyway. I think it was put up because we all love shiney objects.

You could have something there, ofcourse they wouldn't fit in at MGM either but atleast you have the hat moving.

I don't know, as inviting as the park is supposed to be, I think the monuments are actually better. Think of it like this. You go to MGM for the movie themed stuff, you go to the Magic Kingdom for the Nostalgic stuff, Animal Kingdom...duh, and Epcot is supposed to be half innovations, half world countries. The entrance to Epcot is more or less the entrance to GE, innoventions, and all the other copmanies that have been involved in the inventions in technology over the past century. So the monuments give the entrance a more technology feel. Plus the whole picture/legacy thing can be cool...I just don't want to be the 1 million and 1st person. How is that gonna feel? To know you just missed out on a once in a lifetime opportunity that probably won't be offered again.

How are rocks technology? Not trying to sound insulting, just a question.
I guess you could use the argument that they are like something from another planet, in reference to Mission Space. Or the rocks can have something to do with The Living Seas or the Land. But still I think they could have come up with something better.

It's not the rocks that are technology (though, they DID require technology to shape them and BRING them there... if ya think about it ), rather it's the digital images that appear upon them!
Oh yeah, I think they can do away w/ the wand on Spaceship earth too.

I say bring back the flowers, good photo Rich! No doubt those stones can move, it won't be easy but they just don't belong there!
Oh man I totally agree - they're like huge, mammoth tombstones. I absoltely hate it and miss the original entrance.
(I like the Epcot wand though!

I personally don't care for the Wand, but it doesn't bother me like the Tombstones do. The picture of the old original Epcot was awsome. Of course what my kid noticed about the picture was the monorail. Gotta love er for that. I liked the bricks over by the Magic Kingdom though I thought that was a nice touch.
