POTC Music

Post by bullybear » Apr Sun 30, 2006 7:53 pm

I wonder if they'll be changing the soundtrack at all on the updated version of the POTC ride? Anyone hear anything?

Probably not. Hopefully not. It would take the originallity away. :| Especially if they changed, "Scare me" (the line waiting music)

i can't imagine any good reason to change the music since so much of it... or stuff similar... appeared in the movie. And the banjo man better still be playing Camptown Races...

if anything changes, it'll probably be audio of the voice actors for the new AA firgures. that's all. classic disney lovers are already upset that they're adding pop culture figures to it, they'd be mutinous if they messed with the soundtrack as well...

The only thing I had heard was the voice in the dark section will change, and obviously the scenes with the new characters. Nothing I saw said music changes though thankfully.

Otherwise there would be a bunch of us with ipods there to drown out the changes ;)

Ha! I actually brought my iPod... complete with Disney theme park tracks... to WDW a couple years back when I was in Orlando on business and in the parks alone. I think the only ride I wore the headphones on was Big Thunder... the song?... "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy."

But listening to the audio for the ride while riding the ride? Such an interesting concept...

Whenever the Peoplemover comes back I will take my ipod with the old soundtrack to relive the good ol' days ;)

I really don't think they would change the audio. But in case they do I hope they won't add a full orchestra epic-type version (like the one on film); more like a single cello playing. Perhaps were one of the new AA will be placed.

I believe I read in the latest AP newsletter that they were going to change the music to incorporate both the classic music and the music from the movie. I don't have the newsletter in front of me, so I will look when I get home.

I got the AP newsletter here. Okay lets see. Adding AA of Jack, Barbossa, and Davy Jones. "Up grade many of the attraction's special effects and sweetened the audio so the original dialogue can be heard more clearly." "Snippets from the film's original scores have been inserted into the attraction's soundtrack. "

they say it will be seamlessly worked into the existing attraction, but , i am a bit sceptic. lets see what happens on june 26 :|

You beat me too it. I was just about to post that. Anyway, I also wonder how seemless it will be. Mixing two very different music tracks together, not to mention having modern AudioAnimatronics next to 1960s AAs. I think it will be a little weird. However, I will withhold judgement until I see it.

I also read the AP Magazine article. It seems to give real POTC fans some reassurance that the ride won't be tampered with that much. But I still am wondering in the back of my mind how "seemless" the new scenes are going to be if they want the ride to be more in line with the new generation of pirate fans. Although, I think the music if inserted in the right spot can really make the whole attraction more adventurous.
