Depends on a number of factors:

(1) Who are you going with? (kids, significant other, alone, friends)

(2) What kind of budget are you on?

(3) Have you stayed at a hotel around Disneyland before? If so, which?

We went recently and stayed at the Aniheim Hilton. Beautiful hotel but bad transportation. To get to DL you have to walk or buy a transprtation pass. We got a 3 day pass and the bus showed up once in three days. (My daughter got sick and we had to leave DL. It was a long 30 min. walk with an ill child.) Not worth it. I would reccomend the Candycane Inn. It is a nice hotel. It is close enough to walk but it also has its own private transportation. I hope that helps!

I've never stayed at a hotel for Disneyland. It's just me and my wife on our honeymoon, so price isn't that big of an issue.

If price isn't much of an issue, then totally go for the Grand Californian. It's definitely the most romantic place around, and it has the bonus of a Disney touch. Plus it's super close to all the action. I've stayed there with my wife, and we both loved it. My brother actually works there and it's his favorite hotel as well.

If you want a more middle of the road price (HA) try the portafino. I loved it when I went about a year ago. The room I got was great 1 double bed, 1 set of bunk beds, and 1 fold out couch. I think the price was around 120-135 a night when we went.

The anabella was around 90 a night during feburary. Although I did not like it as much, small shower, cramped side bedroom.

The advantage to both is you are within walking distance of the parks,

Not the best, but the most convenient one for me is the Park Vue Inn. It's cheap, it's decent(hey, we're at the parks the majority of the time), and it's right across the street, close to the intersection, and near Mc Donalds and Dennys.

Like rudekick said, I'd stay at the Grand Californian. Very nice, great theming, and the closest hotel to the parks.

*Shinku the AP holder jumps up and down* Ooh! ooh! something I can answer with authority on!

Depending on your budget, Disney's Grand Californian hotel is definately the most expensive, and the most romantic. It's one of the three on-property hotels owned and operated by Disney and has its' own gate (for guests staying on property) to Disney's California Adventure.

The Disneyland Hotel, and Paradise Pier, are also good choices. Though the Disneyland Hotel is beginning to show its' age, it's still very magical because you're on-property.

My personal favorite is the Howard Johnson, especially if you're not lugging kids around at the end of the night. It can be a long walk (approximately a block up Harbor Blvd.) for little ones after a long day at the park, but it's very do-able for adults. Rooms are clean, beds are nice, and there's a Mimi's cafe across the street for affordable "real" food (as opposed to just park munchies).

If you're an annual passholder, HoJo's will offer you a discount on your room, as well, if you ask for it. Depending on when I go, I can sometimes stay cheaper on the AP discount than on my AAA discount there.

I've heard good things about the Candy Cane Inn, as well, but have yet to stay there.

Hehe, no. I live too far away in terms of drive time to work at the parks (45 minute drive without traffic, give or take).

I have stayed at the Candy Cane more times than I can remember, and I like it just fine. It's a short walk and there's a Denny's within walking distance ha ha ha

I would rather stay there and use the money I saved on things I could buy in the park :D

Oh sorry, I missed the honeymoon part  Yah, I would say stay at one of the nice properties. Disneyland Hotel I have a sentimental attachment to, but the Grand California looks awesome.

I'll second the others, it's got to be the Grand Californian seeing as it's your honeymoon. You want to be sure it's a place that will create great memories, so that's the handsdown choice IMHO.
