very cool! I would be a terrible hitchhiking ghost because I would be too busy staring down at my beautiful glowing self to stay in character

Very cool Alacrity!
Although I think they should let the Headless Horseman go back to cantering down Main St., it added something to it!!!

Is a canter faster than a trot? And is a trot what he is doing in the video? I thought he was moving pretty quickly, but slow enough to be safe.boilerbabe wrote:Very cool Alacrity!![]()

Yes, a canter is between a trot and gallop! I know it's safer but cooler when he goes faster!Amy wrote:Is a canter faster than a trot? And is a trot what he is doing in the video? I thought he was moving pretty quickly, but slow enough to be safe.boilerbabe wrote:Very cool Alacrity!![]()

The very first time I saw MNSSHP was back in 2001, and he was galloping!!! I was in total amazement!

I've heard that the horse fell at least one time when the pavement was wet. I wonder if that is when they decided to slow him down for the safety of all?boilerbabe wrote:Yes, a canter is between a trot and gallop! Amy: That is possible! You think when it's dry they would let him go faster?! Also surprised Disney would not put rubber horseshoes on their horses?! Better for them on pavement. Headless horseman is still way cool!

I wonder if the Headless Horseman is more of an independent contractor sort of thing? I would want the horsie to plod along at a thoroughly unbreakneck pace if I was riding itboilerbabe wrote:Amy: That is possible! You think when it's dry they would let him go faster?! I wonder how they choose a CM for that one?! Wanted: CM to ride large steed down Main St. with crowds of people w/o good visibility and at night!!!Amy wrote:I wonder if the Headless Horseman is more of an independent contractor sort of thing? I would think it would have to be a mature horse that knew where it was going and didn't need rider direction. Kind of like those old trail nags they use for tourist trail rides.

I agree, it would have to be a very trained horse! I'm pretty sure the horses that are on Main St. are very used to crowds/noise, they're also very smart animals. Disney has some of the best kept horses I have ever seen!!! Lucky Disney horses!GeoffS wrote:I would think it would have to be a mature horse that knew where it was going and didn't need rider direction. Those little gargoyles holding up the lamp posts are so full of character
