The Star Wars area will be located near the current Star Wars attraction. Indiana Jones is pretty much going to be gone for it. Rumors is that the Indiana Jones area will be the speeder bike ride. The old Sounds Dangerous theater will most likely be used as well. I have been hearing lately that Streets of America will actually stay. I honestly think that Backlot tour is going to stay a bit longer than people have anticipated. The only things that would replace backlot tour would be a rumored Cars Land, which was actually in major consideration until the acquirement of Star Wars and is now minor talk, and now even a rumored LOTR area which I believe is never going to and should never happen.Amy wrote:Wasn't that one of the attractions they had announced would probably be going away to make was for the new Star Wars land? I wouldn't think they would put 2 months of refurb into something that will be going away. I'm not complaining by any means, the Backlot Tour is a shell of it's former selfCardinals314 wrote:Disney announced that Backlot Tour is going to have a refurbishment at the start of next year. Re: Refurbishment News
They were already operating on partial days prior to the close, with a sign in the entry for it saying it was closed for repairs, no activity, then (after the post 9/11 tourism slump) it all just vanished. I don't think they ever actually did anything, possibly because they were still having to come up with options.
The cars were supposedly demolished, except for the one that was placed in DCA for a while. They may have picked parts off of them, but odds are they had little use for them. Too bad their ebay attempts hadn't worked out at the time, then they could have at least had some income from the sale.

This isn't exactly refurbishment news, but I don't think this needs its own separate thread. Disney announced that that October 24th will be the last day that Remy will be in Les Chefs de France.

The unconfirmed news right now is that FOTLK is closing January 5th and will reopen in it's new location in the summer. I'm all for anything to get the construction going for Avatar

We'll be staying at Kidani Village...so we're hoping to take in more of Animal Kingdom this trip than we have in the past. DW is not a fan of musicals...but I'm hoping I can convince her to go see Nemo.dstrawn9889 wrote:go see nemo... i like that show better anyhow...theBIGyowski wrote:Dang! Yes...we've seen it many times. DW has been a Disney movie collector for years...then when we started dating we made sure to buy each movie as it was released on Blu-Ray. All of those VHS tapes she has are just collectors items now.Amy wrote:Has she seen the movie? Re: Refurbishment News
I was excited to read that the Disney railroad is back up and running! A while ago it said that it was going to be under refurb during my trip (which is in 9 DAYS!
) I think the only ride under refurb while I'm there is Peter Pan.

I think that was a good choice for a show FP. The line for Finding Nemo the Musical is always quite lengthy. I hope you enjoy it. It is one of my favoriteslaurie5658 wrote:I happen to put Nemo on my MF FP+ selection. First time to see it. Yep, don't get out much LOL.

That's awesome news! I would hate to miss the railroad. It is such a fun ride going all the way around and seeing everythingBelle1082 wrote:I was excited to read that the Disney railroad is back up and running! The American Film Institute at HS started today and will reopen November 1st. Also Cirque du Soleil will have a break starting on November 3rd and will reopen on the 7th. Lastly, Blizzard Beach's Summit Plummet and Slush Gusher are both temporarily closed due to technical issues. It is expected that the closures will last for a couple of days.
