I am kind of surprised they could take more than a year to complete it, they probably were going to promote it for the Christmas day parade as well. They could still do it, if the ride itself is at least functional.

The maps don't change, and I think they might not highlight it on the leaflet they add since it would just make regular guests mad. You will know if they will be closing early that day though, there will be a small sign in front of the opera house noting the showing.

No idea about the pumpkins, they can actually last for a good while if you can keep them moist, but it is so dry out here that they might not last very long. In the 90's they used to have a pumpkin carver on Main St. and then, for about 10 years, Halloween was kind of an afterthought and that job was gone. They might send them over to CHOC, but odds are they just end up in the hotel, or backstage somewhere. Or just in the trash once they get too deformed. I am not sure how many the guy can produce in a day.

Seems like a natural money-making alternative to have the carvings sold rather than thrown away. Only so many pumpkin pies you can make with leftovers, and I'm sure they don't have a deal with local bakeries to buy carved pumpkins that have sat out in the sun for a few days.

Well they are sitting in the shade... but my only guess as to why they don't sell them is that they probably would not want anyone walking around on property with a pumpkin since they are not exactly travel-ready.

Sure, but neither are large stuffed toys or intricate models and such. Could the package program accommodate, or perhaps could they sell the previous day's carvings out in Downtown Disney, or closer to the exit? Sales has probably looked at this and discounted it, but if they're interested in nickle-diming other things in the rest of the park, why not this?

There is a huge difference though, stuffed toys won't break when dropped, models come in shipping ready packages that can handle some abuse and are also able to lay flat/be stacked. Intricate carved pumpkins... not so much. They probably did consider selling them, but logistics make for a greater problem, that and the price-tag would probably be above what people would be willing to pay.

I would guess that is pretty close to what they considered and decided. Do the carvers have business cards out where they are working?

I didn't see any, but they might be able to give you one if you ask since they most likely are contractors. They could be regular culinary staff, since fruit/vegetable carving can be a common request for the hotel and catering services.

I'm sure they considered selling them, and all the reasons you list are good ones not to sell them. All I'm saying is there have been other contract vendors that have sold their wares in DL before (I have a nice Dia de Los Muertos carving from last year's event). I think the perishable food item aspect is probably more important than logistics, though. nuff sed.

They really need to fix the swear filter, "Godless sodomites" is fine but you can't say g**? What is this Tennessee? Come on slackers, fix it already.

So basically, the new program is going to be the old program with a new name, and people that don't like the changes to the system can easily go back to the old program's rules (mainly instant boarding) by just going to guest relations and saying they want it? It really wasn't that big of an issue but it looked bigger because it was on national broadcasts.

Kind of odd they would re-theme the Hollywood section of the park again when they just did the update, in addition to using a less popular franchise that hasn't really hasn't had much of a presence.

I never realized they strung their lights without the bulbs, and then added them after. L-o-n-g way of doing things.

They point it out every year, because that is how you get a tax deduction for new camera equipment.

The thing is that they only do it for that one façade, everything else is done the normal way. It does sound like the plan of someone that is an hourly contractor though.
