Re: Dateline Disneyland
With the GTA-Virus clearly making everyone unable to come to work, it gave some of us enough time for an extra long lunch hour (well 3 hours). The changes for HMH were really well done and I think the ceiling effect might be permanent since it looks so much better than the scrims and also appears to already be done.
Also, I wonder if this year's gingerbread advent calendar will have the doors opened? It is still a little short of the 13 week countdown, so they are all still closed.

I liked the old hanging mannequin, but the new breaking glass bit looks awesome. Can't wait to go.

Re: Dateline Disneyland
My personal favorite is the part where they leave the hanging body in the video, just to remind everyone that suicide rates are highest around the holidays.
I guess you can't really make that part festive, otherwise it strays into serial killer turf where you keep fat women in a pit to starve them so you can make a body suit out of them and then go on to solve crimes in SF and Texas...
Oh, one last thing... did they remove Ian McShane/Blackbeard's video from the mist curtain? I went on it today and only Davey Jones was showing, but on the return ramp both voices were playing.

I thought that yesterday would be the worst day, it wasn't only about 20% of the office was here today and I wasn't about to use my PTO for GTA since I like to have the game span out over a long period (that and my copy arrived Monday).

I forget, isn't there a starbucks right across the street (on the side that used to be for the lion king tram) from DLR? I bet that franchise owner about s*it a brick when he realized that people would no longer have to go to his establishment but rather have it for sale on the property.

After checking at lunch today, the DLR starbucks is open (I don't think it was in the post), there apparently is some major construction going on for the tram route for the structure, and the first panel of the advent calendar has been removed.

I see the butt-hurt is strong with this week's blog post.
I am sort of surprised they are going to be doing the card thing again for the winter show at DCA, it seems like they are just tempting fate by bringing back any element of luminaria.

Re: Dateline Disneyland
So are the Starbucks prices in the parks comparable to prices outside the gates of Disneyland? I'm thinking the average guest will not notice the difference in scale between the new Starbucks and the rest of the Main Street stores. I'm glad they made it big enough to swallow the huge queues that Starbucks will likely have during the busy seasons.
Hurry BTMRR refurb, hurry!! And please don't close early Alice in Wonderland!!
I like Captain Squawk's little birdy peg leg, that is cute
Are those stores with the new signs in CA all new with the expansion that was last done?
Are the pumpkins at the pumpkin ranch strictly decorative? Or are they for sale? I only wonder because I saw a number on one of them...

Re: Dateline Disneyland
Not sure about the prices, but I think they are on the same price level as what the rest of the resort would charge. I am not sure if franchise owners can set their own prices either since one could go rouge from other local shops, drop the prices 50 cents and damage the other locations.
The signs only went up inside stores, kind of weird that they did it, but it might also give it more of a department store feel.
I don't think the pumpkins are for sale, I can check next time I am there if it is open.

The pumpkins are not for sale (at least during the day), though I wonder what they do with them?
Bad news for Amy, they updated the posters on Big Thunder, and now it is slated for early 2014. I am guessing they ran into a delay since the closure was only supposed to last 10 months.
Also, since they have been doing more of these, if there is going to be an AP movie screening during your visit, the opera house will close a few hours before the screening. So, for example today's screening, starts at 6 so the last showing for GMwML is at 3.

Not only are the listed prices the same, but you can use your AP discount if you have an AP, and still get your Starbucks rewards for charging it to a Starbucks card.Amy wrote:So are the Starbucks prices in the parks comparable to prices outside the gates of Disneyland? Thanks for checking Wizz. I wonder what they do with them as well? Maybe they donate them to the children's hospital?Wizzard419 wrote:The pumpkins are not for sale (at least during the day), though I wonder what they do with them?

I have noticed the longer refurbishment with BTMRR. I was hoping it might wrap up early. I think it would be fun to ride it with my brother

Thanks for the tip on Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. Will that information be on the map or the daily show schedule?
That is pretty nice that they didn't take advantage of the location to hike the prices up. And being able to use an AP for a discount and your Starbucks card for points is pretty nice as well.
