That's so tacky. :( I wish they had just closed it all together to refurb. If they didn't want to shut it down during peak time, surely they could have waited another month or two.

You would think that keeping the show live would make it harder to refurb it. The shows are constantly going on, so they can't do anything noisy while the park's open. I know they can take stuff offsite, work in the night, etc., but it seems inefficient.
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

I'm wondering if the refurb is fixing something that really couldn't wait. It does seem odd that they are walling off a portion and keeping the rest of the attraction open.

It probably was where if they left it until the slow season it could cause more damage, such as a pipe leaking.

COP got a refurbishment in May of this year.

Didn't know that. I am glad that they spent some time on it. :D :goofy:

I still can't imagine what they are doing to the All Star Sports' food court that it will be close until the end of December?!

If I recall, the Chinese place at Epcot had a long closure too, so if they are doing anything major (like plumbing, fuel, etc.) they probably have to rip up the floors and replace them.

Yeah I would assume that doing a refurb on a food establishment would have a lot more regulation and standards to comply with than other things.

Permits, inspections, demolitions, etc. take a long time. Florida may be a festering hell hole and their greatest citizen is a fictional serial killer, but they still have to get permits. This isn't China, or Texas after all. :D

Hmmm, the food court should be all fancy and fresh then!
