You may be able to depending on where you are staying it looks like. You should check out your trip plans on the disney website and then look at My Disney experience.
Will do, thanks! We were looking at either the Yacht Club or Boardwalk, just depends on availability.

For the first time, the entire roster of FASTPASS+ attractions will be available for selection, and will also include parades and fireworks Friday through Sundays. Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade, Main Street Electrical Parade, Wishes, and Fantasmic! will all take part.

Like previous tests, the number of FASTPASS+ reservations will be limited to 3 per day at a single park per day.
Does it say if the guest will be limited to those 3 FP+ ressies then and won't be able to get any FP at the park?
Wizzard419 wrote:Is there a map of the locations for where the reserved spots are for the fireworks? I wonder if it will be like DCA with World of Color where those without reservations can see the show but it won't be as good and they won't get the effects.
I would be interested in seeing where the reserved areas are as well. Sometimes the reserved spots aren't places I would really want to have to set up camp.

Right now the system isn't fully rolled out so I think they might be SOL if they want more passes than the FP+ provides since the normal FP rides haven't installed any machines that are compatible with the new system yet.

Question...

For those people who will be using FP+...how would they even go about getting regular FP? Do they have paper tickets or a room key? If they only have the MyMagic+ band for their room key and entry to the parks...that would keep them from having the medium they need to get regular FP. Maybe someone else here knows how that will be addressed.

From what I have been reading, I don't think you can get regular fastpasses when you have the magic band and fastpass+. Eventually, Disney will get rid of the paper Fastpasses. It's still undetermined if you can get more fastpasses the day of riding than just your 3 or 4 reserved passes. I would assume that you can't though. I hope we will learn more about it at the upcoming D23

I doubt they would talk much about that since "admission medium" isn't a very sexy topic.

It's actually been a huge topic this year for Disney. This completely changes the way guests tour the parks. Many people including myself still have unanswered questions and concerns about the implementation. D23 would be a good medium to address the concerns and try to get people excited for the technology.

Huge topic for Disney, yes. Subject for fan convention, no. The convention is more about promoting high profile/big picture stuff rather than being a platform to address specific details of a specific item. They do it in the same format as Blizzard, though Disney can't attract the same number of people nor can they get them to shell out $40 just to watch a webcam of the same convention, big new things are good but fine details do not get discussed. The main reason being that no one wants to look like a liar if they say "the magic bands will allow you to summon a cocktail wench 24/7" and then find out it wasn't accurate.

That and to sell a s*it-ton of merch.

Some new details have emerged about Fastpass+ dealing with closed attractions. Depending on the time of day, guests will have two options. If the attraction is closed early in the day, guests are offered alternative Fastpasses+ experiences for that park. There will be a list of 8 attractions to choose from. If the closure happens later in the day, the guests can select any Fastpass+ attraction for any park that is good on the next theme park day. Guests will be notified through My Disney Experience about the ride closure and to reschedule your Fastpass.

It seems like if you don't have a smart phone, you have to go where the main Fastpass+ kiosk is in the park.

I just read a great blog post about MyMagic+ from a blogger who just used it.

http://blog.touringplans.com/2013/07/31 ... xperience/

Found this interesting:
Rhiannon asked about a loophole in which guests could basically “double up” on their FastPass acquisition by using their preselected FastPass+ allotment while also using their Annual Pass card to get standard FastPasses. Despite a notice on the WDW website saying that this is not possible, I found that Rhiannon was completely correct. I selected and used FP+ on my MagicBand, but I was also able to use my AP card to get regular Fast Passes from the regular Fast Pass machines. Additionally, my husband was able to get regular Fast Passes with his Key to the World card. Enjoy it while you can, folks! Rhiannon’s question spurred what I found to be the most interesting tidbit from my conversation with RJ. He stated quite unequivocally that the old “legacy” FASTPASS will be going away completely. Once the new systems are fully in place the only type of FastPass will be the FastPass+. No more paper FASTPASS tickets.

That is exactly what I thought was going to happen. Its all going to be only Fastpass+. I am glad that I collected my paper fastpasses when I was there last. There was a really good letter written on Micechat.com to Disney about the issues with Fastpass+. It was a very good read and the link is below.

Also, I have heard from inside sources that currently your so called "private" information on your MyMagic band can easily be read by CMs. More security measures are needed before it is widely released

"During this small test, all FP+ users were WDW hotel guests; once the system is fully operational, anyone will be able to use FP+, including local Florida-area Annual Passholders."

I wonder how they are going to handle single day ticket holders since they too will be able to use the system when it is out of beta. It also kind of makes it BS to charge hotel guests for replacement bands when they are going to be the standard media. I doubt they are going to be offering discounts to reuse the bands (such as buying single day tickets).

It is nice they will have the cards, now I will have to see what happens when I have 3 RFID cards in my wallet at the same time (car, office, and theme park) :D

One silly thing that they seem to have overlooked now that everyone is going to have them is that they will still need the wristbands for EMH, which means many guests will be wearing two bands.

For early parts of Fastpass+ testing, people were using RFID cards that were able to use Fastpass+ reservations. Disney could possibly give these cards to single day guests. I wonder if the qualification for EMH can be programmed into the MagicBand.

They can, since it would be the same ticket as before, but since EMH relies heavily on visual confirmation of a guest being allowed to be there (the wristbands that can't be removed without destroying them) it means they would either need to keep that system in place, or have to pay for workers to man the entrance to every single ride that is open that night to scan for credentials (which creates a bottleneck).

The CMs at the attraction entrances did check our hotel cards at night to make sure they were valid (it was hit or miss for sure, but there were enough checks that I ended up just keeping my hotel key card out). I would think if there was some sort of scanner for the RFID card or Magic Band it might possibly speed the process up.
