I'm working on something with one of my brothers at the moment. It is a piece of jewelry that combines something quite traditional with Disney. It's exciting so far, but I'm thinking it is going to be a little more expensive than I had planned. Sigh... My Mom told me I should be sure he is charging me the family rate

I'm starting to wonder. I did ask him today and he did tell me he was charging me the family and friends rate. I really don't know what the going rate it, but I'm thinking he is going to be fair with me. I would rather pay someone in my family than a stranger. Keep the money going 'round...

A little over a year ago, our family threw us a baby shower before DS was born. One of the things they used were block letters that spelled "OH BOY" that my sister painted blue.

Image

We loved them so much we put hangers on the back and hung them in DS's room.

Image

A year later now...as we are planning his first birthday party...I decided to try my hand at re-purposing these letters into something more fun.

Image

The quality of the picture is pretty bad because it's my cellphone but I'll try to post ones with my good camera sometime this week or next week.

I think they turned out great. We have a Mickey & Friends cartridge for DW's Cricut that we used to make the hats and bows. The ears on Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto are cardstock that I cut out as well. DS likes them...which is the most important thing. We'll hopefully be able to find a good home for them after his party is over.

Those look FANTASTIC!!!! Will you be able to hang them on the wall again? If not, maybe you could add a small shelf to his room and house them there?

What a cute idea BIG ~ very clever! I agree with MmeLeota, those letters need to find a spot back in his room :D

Thanks! They still have the hangers on the back...so we may hang them back up. We have a nice bookshelf in DS's room that was my bookshelf when I was growing up that DW's dad refinished for DS...I'm thinking the letters could sit there if they had to.

I'm thinking, keep them.... and get additional letters that spell "Disney" - then use them in the middle of a board on which you place photos of DS's first trip to WDW!!!

Great job on the letters BIGY!

Can't believe I just discovered this thread! I love art and I love Disney sooo naturally they get combined. :) I literally skimmed through 40 pgs of thread to look at all the pictures everyone has posted! I wish I could have seen the shadow box but the images are no longer available :(

What I did see is that we have so many creative/talented artists here!! To comment on a recent post, those letters are super cute BIG!! I love them!

A lot of the art I make is Disney themed so I'll post some of it up here for you all to see! Here is my latest Disney drawing. Took me about a month to finish (ugh so much detail lol). I drew it in pencil first and then outlined it in black pen and colored it in with prismacolor pencils. ( I highly recommend those to anyone who like to color with pencils!). It's the Little Mermaid!

that looks great! Also...great job on the colors as it looks like you were able to match them perfectly!

We ended up finding a great spot for the Mickey & Pals letters I painted. Every night we brush DS's teeth and say our prayers in his room, he looks up and sees the letters and gets excited. It makes me proud as it means he sees Mickey and the others when he sees the letters...which was my goal. :)

That's so cute that your son reacts that way! :) WTG! They really look awesome! My fav is the "Y" because I have an obsession with Pluto =p
