I know that’s probably just what disney wants though. Not necessarily the unpleasantness of the crowds mind - but the increased ticket sales.

Crowds
I'd hope they open a new park just for that reason! I know I go to WDW during peak season (we have to due to jobs) but it would be nice to spread people out more. If attendance keeps rising and there is noplace new to go it will be a mob scene.

I would rather see Disney sink the money into the existing parks, Epcot in particular.
Future World seems to have losts its focus and needs some quality rides and not just another thrill ride. I am really hoping that this Living Seas refurb is good, but I am not optimistic. If the rumors of another thrill ride for the Wonders of Life space are true, then I really think Future World is a lost cause. Slowly but surely, all of the educational attractions are being squeezed out. Don't even get me started on Journey into Imagination. Oh, how I miss Dreamfinder. How long before Spaceship Earth is deemed unsafe and not worth a major refurbishment? Soarin' is a good ride, but how about Soarin' over Florida or Soarin' over the countries represented in World Showcase instead of getting a recycle of the California version?
And how about a new country or two in World Showcase. We are coming up on the 25th anniversary and the newest country is Norway (1988?).
I think Expedition Everest will be a good addition to Animal Kingdom, but I don't want to see it turn into Busch Gardens with a new coaster every year or two. And isn't there something they could do with all of that space that is Camp Minnie-Mickey or whatever they call it? And what the heck were they thinking with the whole Chester and Hester's debacle? We needed another Dumbo style ride like a hole in the head!
The stunt show is a nice addition to MGM, but the park still lacks something. And again, we get an attraction that is recycled from another park. How about some original attractions with the quality of Voyage of the Little Mermaid, the Muppets, or Star Tours. When was the last time you saw a line for Sounds Dangerous?
Magic Kingdom is pretty much complete with the exception of Tomorrowland. Let's keep Carousel of Progress and Timekeeper open all of the time. And how about a brand new attraction where Stich is. That recycle of Alien Encounter is an embarrasment. They need to stop re-using the same theater from Mission to Mars and start from scratch with a brand new space for a new attraction.
And how about sealing off River Country from the lake and using chlorinated water like the other water parks. I really liked that place and now it just sits there wasting away.
I guess my point, after all of this rambling
, is that before they look at building a 5th park they should look at what needs to be done with the existing parks.
But it is still my favorite place in the World.

I'd have to agree! I dont think they should spend the money building another park. I think they should just work on what they have for now. I'm glad the execs want to make a couple more millions, but don't forget the fans that helped start it all. Keep us happy first!
major infrastructure overhaul... say, a massive expansion of the monorail system, or introduction of a WEDway-like system... could change this. They seem to be toying with the infrastructure idea, with rumors of a new road straight from MCO through Disney property (and off I-4 (it is 4, isn't it?)) being built.
Point is, if Disney doesn't believe a 5th gate won't dramatically increase total resort visitorship... as, apparently, Animal Kingdom hasn't truly done... it won't open one. There may be new hotels (though not likely after the Pop Century expansion) or new waterparks, an expansion of DTD, etc, but I wouldn't hold your breath on a whole new 5th gate.
Now that, I'd love to see - BEFORE another park is built. I'm having a hard time trying to fit in everything I want to do when we visit with the 4 parks, water parks, Downtown Disney, other resorts, etc. I can't imagine adding a 5th park to the mix!
As far as hotels, I for one (even though POP Century still has the 2nd phase to complete) would love to see another Deluxe Resort - but with an Atlantis type themeing.

First of all, I knew this was going to be an excellent post when I saw your avatar...
I have no feel for how Iger is going to treat the situation, but I am cautiously hopeful.
By the way, have they completely abandoned the idea of fantasy animals in the Animal Kingdom? I liked the idea of a park where you could see rhinos, stegosauruses and dragons in the same place. Makes it feel a bit less "Busch Gardens", even though it's just a Disneyfied version of that park.
I completely agree. I just wonder how much the suits think the parks need "fixing" and whether their ideas about how to do so in any way look like what we want to see.mjs805 wrote:I would rather see Disney sink the money into the existing parks, Epcot in particular.

Yeah, they not only recycled an attraction, it doesn't even make sense in the new location. Well, not that Test Track, or most of the new things in "Future" World have any resemblance to proper theming either.Soarin' is a good ride, but how about Soarin' over Florida or Soarin' over the countries represented in World Showcase instead of getting a recycle of the California version?
Have they still not put lights on Norway and Morocco? I haven't been back in ages, but since they're hardly new any more, you'd think they could have sprung for a few bucks to at least bring them up to speed. And how about a new country or two in World Showcase. Is it now just a freebie for Fort Wilderness guests? I'd heard that before. If you put in the context of the "hotel pool", it's pretty great. And how about sealing off River Country from the lake and using chlorinated water like the other water parks. On the surface there is hunger and fear. Men still exercise unjust laws. They fight, tear one another to pieces. A mere few feet beneath the waves their reign ceases, their evil drowns. Here on the ocean floor is the only independence.

I'd heard River Country is fully closed at this point.
I'd like to think they've not abandoned the idea of mythical beasts at Animal Kingdom - the area out by the upcoming Expedition ride is pretty large. Makes me wonder why Disney would make Guests walk so far back for an attraction if there weren't plans in the works for additional attractions along the way. Oh wait - no! they could be filling the space with more shops.
Does anyone know anything about the construction beside Coronado Springs? it looked to be more than highway construction when we were there in October, but then again, I didn't get a great look at it.

Of course they could always create a Disney Seas type of park for the US. I have been lucky enough to go to Japan and the park is fantastic in every since. The attrractions are almost all unique to that park, the only clones (or close to clones) being the Indiana Jones Crystal Skull and the Tower of Terror. It is basically themed on the 7 seas + New York.

I wouldn't mind seeing a 5th park possibly created from attractions that they retired (with up to date refurbishment of course), our 1st time there was in 2000, weve been there 11 times since, but there were a lot of attractions we heard of but never got the chance to see. Also a little bit of something from movies from the past would be nice to see. As for Epcot one of the best things they could do is bring back the Tapestry of Dreams parade.
