Hey now! Don't be messing with Casablanca. I say leave the whole thing alone. It is such a classic ride and it's so fun to watch the movies then be in them! Are all the featured movies actually MGM or are they just anything Disney?addlema wrote:Becuase the Aliens series is far better then Star wars?Leave Ripley and the Alien! Why not replace one of the lesser themed/cool movie sets (Casablanca?)

Don't mess with RICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There really isn't much more room in the ride to add any new scenes so unfortunatly it is one of three options:
1. Take away one scene and put in another.
2. Shutdown the ride and rebuild from scratch.
3. Just leave it alone and everyone will have to deal with it.
I'm leaning towards the third option.

I would hate to see them mess with just about any of the more lengthy rooms, including Alien. I just wish they had the Alien timed better on the ride. I do love that scene though, although I will say it is a little scary as a kid. I'm 21 now but I can remember being afraid of it on the ride but I was MUCH more afraid of the Alien trailer playing in the queue which I would shut my eyes for. Alien, however, has such a unique smell lol. Anytime I smell that smell anywhere it always takes me back to the Alien scene of the GMR. If they were going to change something maybe they could change the scene with the ruby where the tour guide regains control of the ride vehicle into something that is actually a scene from another classic movie and somehow still leave it so the two CMs can make the switch with maybe some other explaination. The problem is it seems like it'd be such a big refurb for such a small change.

That movie, Aliens, made me nervous (not scared) to look up in drop ceiling. I always think something is up there but there never is. It happened this past weekend when I was demolishing a car hole, A GARAGE for you fancy folks.

That would be cool.mvhsswimmer wrote:I know that Star Tours is already there, but how about replacing Alien with Lucke, Leia, Han, Ben and Darth Vadar in the Death Star corridors from the original Star Wars?
I would like to see a different approach -- make the classic movies just that -- a movie screen but have newer movies be more interactive with the AA sets and live action. To me the last scene with the movie just seems to be the cheep way to "catch everything else that has occurred in the past 20 years"
That said, there are a few current scenes that I would still keep (WoO, Clint Eastwood) these would be used just at the beginning.

I would agree with option 3 to leave it alone. Its fine to cut in some new scenes in the movie. The ride thru parts are fine.

I'm quite happy with The Great Movie Ride just the way it is. I wouldn't mind seeing them "plus" a few sections with new effects or figures. The things they've done recently with Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise at Disneyland prove that an older attraction can be improved with new technology rather than being gutted and re-done.
However, I will never forgive them for Journey Into Imagination.
So I vote for improved effects!

I agree that the old classics should remain. I have only been on this ride a few times but I remember how much I loved the old classics, got goose bumps a few times. Don't take away Casablanca, I loved that movie! Addlema, have you ever seen it? Maybe it's my age, and that is why they appeal to me. Also being female I tend to be more emotionally attached to things

In all seriousness is everyone ok with the horror section where you just pass by some skeletons with glowing eyes? I think that part should go. Or what about the Tarzan part? I know everyone knows who Tarzan is, but I don't think the movies are as popular as they think. Am I wrong?

I dunno, I always specifically think of that as one of the cooler parts of The Ride. Maybe it stands out because it's not a riff on a specific movie, but an entire genre. I suppose the Western scene isn't specifically one film either.Blackie Pueblo wrote:In all seriousness is everyone ok with the horror section where you just pass by some skeletons with glowing eyes?
I just think it's a pretty cool spooky effect that's also very simple. Something about the way they move is just creepy.
Also I have to agree that the Casablanca scene is really good. Anyone who's seen the movie knows how powerful the end of that film is. Plus Bogart was incredibly cool.

Lol, box on wheels. I just call it the tram. I should ask what those things are called. Oh, and I like the horror section. Those eyes are pretty creepy.Cheshire Cat wrote:Those still creep me out for some reason and I move closer to the center of the...vehicle...box on wheels?
