Where does this stuff come from?

Is this supplied from a Disney employee? Or is Disney part of this?

absolutely not and don't tell them about this place. alot of this is recorded by guests (at least the live tracks), ripped from CDs/DVDs (like the vacation planner videos), or possibly smuggled out of the parks operations center by a disgruntled employee. in any case, many of the tracks are available for download from a variety of sources.

You don't think *they* already know? I hear that Disney keeps very close tabs on the internet...

sarcasm doesn't carry well in type...

I'm sure big brother is watching us right now. I know that Disney is a fairly large entity on the internet. But, due to the various copyrighted materials we have (be it the tracks or pics), we probably COULD get shut down. We've been lucky, IMHO, to have stayed up for over 2 years now. Hopefully, nothing happens...

The Mouseplanet article on that other Live365 station seems to imply that they actually pay Disney a licensing fee to play it. I'm not quite sure if that actually happens though because the system that is in place for radio stations to pay for the music it plays is usually for pop music and such, and random Disney Theme Park stuff doesn't seem to fit into that system.

But visionsfantastic has it's own station on its site and it doesn't look like they pay Disney any licensing fees. They have an FAQ that says nothing they have is copyrighted because they recorded it all themselves. That's simply false though - it's all copyrighted.

But you have to realize with VF that the site is not a radiostation like Subsonic. That is only a minor (very minor) part of the site. Not like this site which is a station and a fourm and a chat.

I don't think Disney minds the free advertising and publicity they receive from a site comprised of fans like this one.I think they would be more wary of a site that slams them.

I agree. This is a fan site made up of those who ADORE disney. And Moderators help to make sure that slamming of our magical place doesn't occur. (at least I think they do) ;)

I think even if DIsney affiliates stumble onto this place, they won't do anything because the site is not negative in anyway. Plus, the moderators don't make a profit from anything. That's a big legal issue. Technically, you are allowed to copy movies you rent--You just can't sell your copies.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that's incorrect.

You are allowed to make copies of movies you buy (not rent) for personal archival purposes. You cannot give the copies to anyone else whether you profited or not.
