But a "Limited Time Magic" promotion is no different to what every retailer is doing week in week out. I'm sure even Disney are finding times hard as we all struggle at the moment. Are they simply just advertising in a different way by saying you might see something special. Don't see anything wrong in that and surely there must be something there for everyone
I would so love to be able to get there for the Diamond Horseshoe being open again. Found it great entertainment when we went in 1998

Well put indeed.
But I've noticed the people who are complaining about LTM the most are the ones who aren't even at Disney and have no foreseeable trips planned.

The IRONY....
TRUE...I really think we're disgruntled, and jealous

. Speaking only for myself of course

Is there a spot on the Disney website that says what the upcoming week might be.... I looked but didn't see anything. How do you know when you get there what the limited time magic is?

I don't believe they are really releasing the details more than a day or so in advance. I would guess that once you arrive, you could find out if anything was happening from guest relations or at your hotel front desk. That's a good question ~ has anyone gone and had the limited time magic offering printed on the map or the daily times guide?

I imagine part of the reason they may not promote them in advance is that they may pull a promotion at the last minute.
That and these are probably not exactly driving guests in (for WDW at least) since they are smaller scope.

We went in February still do not know what happened those two weeks, nothing on maps and no mention of anything at registration.

So there wasn't anything during an entire two week period?

Was there something bigger going on, like the Flower and Garden festival?

There probably was something, but they are small scale and if you aren't there at the right time you may miss them. Like the street performers using boy band music.

The celebrtion I would love to see is the announcement of free dining for the fall. Our trip depends on Free dining (I know we can take the 30% and purchase the Dining plan) but free dining just cleans that up so nicely. Free dining saves us about $1,500.

I was talking to our holiday Rep today. Disney are releasing the free dining on Thursday this week. Hope it covers the dates you are looking for.

Just got an email that the Dapper Dans are bringing back their boy band medley again. I'm sorry, but the limited time magic promotion has been a bust from what I've seen and heard ~ bleh!

Arguably, do any of the promotions that do not feature new lands or E-ticket attractions, really move the needle? While they are small scale ones, I wonder if they are any less effective than having the year/multi-year long promos?

Hmm, don't know that there is a good way to judge that. It just has been disappointing since they said they were going to have 52 weeks of magic, and they have re-run a few things now that weren't all that exciting to start with. You would think they could at least come up with 52 unique things spread among the various parks.

There are ways to quantify it, but they are mostly just for internal figures so you can get promoted up and out of a department. I forgot new fantasyland was this year, so they could do shady year over last figures.
It isn't difficult to have enough content, I actually think it might be more than 52 since out here they call it "limited time magic", if you look at the model they are following, most of it is small scale to the point that there isn't even any merch or construction cost required. When they get near peak/holiday then they start throwing in more elaborate things.
The odd one has been at DLR where they keep showing various animated features in Great Moments with Mr Lincoln for AP holders, it is nice but I am not about to go there just to watch the lion king or a muppet Christmas carol.

They aren't showing Mr. Lincoln right now? I thought they had displaced the Muppets for those movies.
