"some people only post in the forums just to get forums".... ??

Do you mean they only post to get points... because I have to say, I don't see that being nearly as rampant here as I would expect.

I fixed the wording, as it didn't make sense.

And, I kind of agree, that lately there have been some bogus threads (in my mind, all the recent Mission: Space threads). But, as this is Subs site, he says what can stay and what has to go. So far, all the threads have been approved, so not much more can say. If we do find that people are posting just to get more points, we'll discuss what to do (among the mods/admins).

I agree there have been too many M:S threads, but ALL of them being bogus? The first one certainly seemed warranted - didn't it?

I just hope you're not referring to my posts, js3901... I was pouring my heart and soul into those threads! (and getting beat up on, if you noticed.) I really do think it's a topic that warrants a great deal of discussion.

Sorry if I carried on a bit... Sometimes it's hard to let things go when you're really passionate about them. You know I'm a traditionalist--the most important question I think Disney execs need to ask themselves is, "Would Walt have approved?" His vision and his philosophies should be omnipotent when it comes to guiding the company, and especially the theme parks.

I didn't even know you get points by posting, hence my "What???" selection. Is there someplace to find out more on how the system works? I'm rather new here, and the FAQ didn't seem to really mention it other than maybe a vague reference which makes more sense to me now that I know there's a connection.

Thank you.

Thank you.
There are a few threads throuout the forums that touch on how the points system works. and it not being in the FAQs is a good thing to bring up. Maybe Sub can add this in one of these days...

I'm referring to all the various posts we have concerning Mission Space, which actually includes a thread on the first death last year, which was, coincidentally, started by you, kgmadorin.you can find that one at this link:

viewtopic.php?t=851

in addition to that one, we also now have 6 OTHER threads, all about Mission Space:

viewtopic.php?t=1011

viewtopic.php?t=534

viewtopic.php?t=1464

viewtopic.php?t=1493

viewtopic.php?t=1479

viewtopic.php?t=1488

All are on the same basic subject. Now, I know we're all saddened by the loss due to a Disney Product. I know we all have our own opinions on the subject, and that people are going to the extremes on the issues at hand. But, is it really right to clog the forums with 7 different threads? now, granted, a couple have been locked. This is for the simple fact that we don;t need more than 1 thread to get the point across. Just look at what I, myself, did to Lion's post about his experiences at WDW in the College Program. People are asking me to put it back the way it was so it's just Lion's personal jpurnal of experiences. If we have 4 or 5 people doing the college program soon, do we really want to clog the forums with 4 or 5 new threads? I know myself that I barely have time to read through the threads we have right now, what with work, home life, etc.

I could drag out this rant forever, but the point comes across again and again. We don't need multiple threads for the same topic no matter how serious the issue may be. If Sub says otherwise, then more power to you. Until that time, 1 should be enough for everyone.

In reference to js3901's above post (quoting would be too much of a space hog I would think) regarding numerous different threads all on the same topic, maybe a search feature would help to limit the problem? I could only find a Jump To X Days or Jump To Whatever option, but not a topic search engine that larger forums sometimes have. It hink what happens is maybe a topic on Mission Space goes back to a second or third page and people either a) forget about it or b) never see it and decide to start a new thread which they may think is unique.

If there already is a search feature and I missed it in my 20 second scan of forum topic list (which is very possible) I apologize and would suggest that people who are caught creating new threads on existing topics should be referred to learn how to utilize the search engine. From my experiences on other forums it really helps, as all someone would have to do is type in "Mission Space" in the search box, see that there's already X amount of threads on the desired topic and rather than start a new one, just post in an existing one.

I guess since two of my threads were singled out (both were relevant, different, and the poll thread on riding MS was started before the dangerous poll) I should respond that my intention was to develop some insightful discussion here with an interest to how folks thought about MS and to point out a new fact that was relayed to me. My threads weren't meant to be bogus, and I am really sorry if y'all thought that about those specific threads.

Internet board decorum varies from board to board - sometimes bumping old threads is discouraged, other times board mods are so strict and sensitive about new threads that it is the proper medium to discussing anything in the past.

My personal belief is that if we want board growth that we need to be careful about censoring, but if we want an intimate community then an establishment of board guildelines is a fantastic idea.

I am not singling anyone out by my post. I am simply pointing out the fact that we have a total of 7 different threads which focus on the same thing - Mission Space. Whether these threads were started by you or started by me, there are, IMHO, too many threads. one or two are fine, but more than that is just clutter and white noise for me.

I've been a member of these forums for just under 2 full years now. I still remember the days when we had no more than 200 - 300 members. That was alot easier to control. Now we have almost 1400 members (granted, many do not post), and just trying to read through these threads is turning into a full-time job. And this one I'm not getting paid for.

I do a search before I post a topic, but not always successful in finding the topic already started, then find out later on there was a post started already, I don't know how I could've missed the MS topics already posted though  . Maybe I just don't search correctly. I do think we have posts on the same subject lines. If there was a better way to search maybe that would help? Is there a way to go in and delete old topics from years ago, and consolidate some of the ones we have now? I know that would be very time consuming and you all maintain this site on your own time, which I greatly appreciate. It is a little mind boggling when I see all the topics on here, I could never go through all of them :D
Maybe sub categories like WDW - Rides; WDW - Shows, WDW- Parks.......... I don't know, just trying to think of ways to help :?

We all think you guys do a tremendous job, js3901, but I can understand you're starting to feel a little overwhelmed. Subsonic Radio is an incredible website, and will certainly continue to grow... and grow... and grow...

Maybe you need to discuss with Subsonic the possibility of appointing more mods. Or, like other forums I've used, perhaps mods should be assigned certain forums to cover, rather than trying to moderate the entire site.

I agree with js3901, there has been alot of bogus threads posted. This forum is beginning to look like a bad train wreck. Maybe Sub needs to recruit a few more moderators or persuade the existing mods. to show up for work once in a while.
