Login problems...

Post by subsonic » Apr Tue 18, 2006 10:54 am

I've gotten several reports from people who are not able to login. I don't know what the issue is but the current fix is to remove cookies from "subsonicradio"

To remove cookies in IE - There are two methods for removing IE cookies:
- Remove all cookies (easy)
-- Select Tools > Internet options > General Tab > Delete Cookies
- Remove Specific cookies (medium)
-- Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Account>\Cookies
-- Select and delete cookies with subsonicradio in them

Firefox/Mozilla - (Shameless plug here, youl should be using this anyways, IE is old and unsecure. Plus, tabbed browsing! www.getfirefox.com)
- Tools > Options > Privacy Tab > Cookies Sub-tab > View Cookies
- Select and delete cookies with subsonicradio in them

Sorry for the issues.

I second that. I know little about the technology, but my internet experience has dramatically improved since switching to Firefox. Less pop ups, less crashing, easier navigation, faster, etc.

Eh Firefox is okay... it tripped out on me a few times when I tried it. And when I asked it to transfer my links it only did half of them.

anyway... thanks sub for bringing it up.

If my IT staff told me that     ANGER BUILDING, BUILDING!!!!!!!!! I never use IE it is too unsecure for me. I have heard of more things going wrong with IE and any mozilla browser. The guys that work in my office, three on one computer, still use IE. One of them downloaded a virus with IE, I don't know if it was because of IE or if he is just an idiot ( probably the later than the former ) but it made me even more warry of IE.

I work for the Univ. of Penn and they have a great firewall but, even my friends in IT have said it, as Eagle mentioned "IE has to many holes". The're ways around anything if you know where to look.

The virus that was downloaded was kill the moment it finished activating but still the potential is there.

I don't care about lack of security as much as I do IE's complete crap handling of web design standards... soooo much standard (X)HTML and CSS just don't work in IE...

I'm a web designer. We have peeves.

Hi Sub: Thanks so much for getting me back up and running. I have no idea what happened, but I was not able to log in at work or at home for over two weeks. So glad to be back!

It either broke with the upgrade of phpBB or the change of session length.

I'm still having trouble. I can login if I clear the cookies, but the next time I come, I can't login again. So I have to clear the cookies on every visit. Anybody else having to do that?

A couple weeks ago I was having trouble at home but not at work. After I cleared my cookies at home everything has been fine and I haven't had any trouble since.
