Re: MyMagic+
I'm wondering if they will be surprised if they are tracking people from the various resorts. I would venture to guess that people staying at the moderate resorts are spending more on food and souvenirs because I believe the people staying at the deluxe resorts aren't spending as much in the parks. And the value resorts might come in high on spending as well because they are quite possibly larger groups and that is why they are staying at a value resort.
Len, does the delay at DL come because of AP holders having to show ID, or do they ask regular ticket holders for ID as well?

Re: MyMagic+
That would be a pointless effort though, since they could simply just grab a box from the warehouse and note "This box went to x resort" as opposed to building a batch and having to make sure it went to a specific location. If I recall, don't you also get your passes/cards when you arrive at the magical express counter? That would be a huge pain to contend with as well.
AP holders don't show ID, their photos are in the system and used to also be on the passes. Multi-day tickets now have to show ID because too many people were cheating the system by selling off the unused days.
I don't know if I would agree with your thinking Amy, since it doesn't really make sense to me.

Re: MyMagic+
I guess my reasoning sort of deals with people I have known that travel to WDW. I know some really well off people that always stay at the Grand Floridian, but scrimp a bit when it comes to meals, and don't buy a lot of souvenirs. They are spending a lot for the room, but not a lot in the parks beyond the ticket. And they generally have some sort of deal where they get their tickets free due to connections they have. I know other families that have lots of children, so they stay at the Value resort since it is cheaper. But they buy lots of souvenirs for kids, sweatshirts for everyone when the evenings turn unexpectedly chilly, etc., so they are spending a lot in the parks on top of the tickets. I don't know that the difference in rooms rates balances out with what people spend. I was just theorizing that people that stay in the Deluxe resorts aren't necessarily the company's best customers when it comes to cash flow. And that is why I don't think the number of Fastpasses should necessarily by tied to how much someone is spending on their hotel room at WDW.Wizzard419 wrote:That would be a pointless effort though, since they could simply just grab a box from the warehouse and note "This box went to x resort" as opposed to building a batch and having to make sure it went to a specific location. Possibly, there also might be a balance of volume, while the people who stay in deluxe level resorts might not make as many purchases for food, merch, etc. they may also go to locations that charge more, or spend more per person, while the people in the value resorts will make a lot of smaller value purchases and eat at the quick service locations as opposed to sit down.
The nice thing about deluxe levels is that the higher prices mean lower volumes of people. That is mostly irrelevant though since the hotel room on a vacation is mostly just an oversized storage locker since you will probably only be in there to sleep, change clothes, and possibly drop stuff off.
I have no issue with giving more park fun to those who spend more since that is what walt always wanted (ABC tickets, club 33, private tours, etc.), the one who put a crimp in it was Eisner if I recall, when he made the admission an unlimited ride pass.

I suppose you have a point. I just am one of the have-nots 99.9% of the time so I would like to think the would be some equality where there is a ticketed entry.

Re: MyMagic+
don't need to keep records that way, you just write a SQL query asking for all bracelets during a given time frame and a resort number, and the system will give you a list of which bracelets were entered into the system at whichever resort, then you can search just that list for pertinent info from there... which parks which day, what FP+, which carts they stopped at, how much water they drank, which carp they bought from which register... they can also tell how long the ruddy queue line is by tracking when a bracelet passes the entrance of the queue, just like the redcards

Is anyone else scared that they're going to incorporate some sort of gps device into the wristband so that they know where every guest is at once? Don't get me wrong, the idea of having your room key/tickets/payment all on one device is wicked cool, but the possibilities of this thing scare me.

All of this talk is making me want to apply for a job at Disney to do Data Quality Testing and other types of Quality Assurance as it pertains to the IT side of the Parks.

Yep, I work in business intelligence and the data mining made possible by the bracelets and RFID in general almost make me want to give up my California weather to work for the mouse.theBIGyowski wrote:All of this talk is making me want to apply for a job at Disney to do Data Quality Testing and other types of Quality Assurance as it pertains to the IT side of the Parks.

The company I work for is actually doing a TON of work for a company who is about to revolutionize the way the world uses RFID. Because of that...it's making me want to jump on board and learn as much as I can...knowing that Disney will be utilizing a lot of that in the near future.JenMuse wrote:Yep, I work in business intelligence and the data mining made possible by the bracelets and RFID in general almost make me want to give up my California weather to work for the mouse.theBIGyowski wrote:All of this talk is making me want to apply for a job at Disney to do Data Quality Testing and other types of Quality Assurance as it pertains to the IT side of the Parks.

No, mostly because it wouldn't benefit them and it might also be against the law, and the part about it needing power.TikiTikiRoom wrote:Is anyone else scared that they're going to incorporate some sort of gps device into the wristband so that they know where every guest is at once?
