My first Half was the WDW Half...and I think I did it in 2:28 or so...so you are doing a great job! I think you will be able to hit your goal of 5 hours for WDW. The only thing that could hinder that would be stopping and walking in the parks for pictures and characters and all that. That's why my first half was only 2:28...because we made sure to take pictures at each mile marker and in front of the castle. My next half was 2:08...one I did without walking or stopping except at water stations.
Thanks!!
I didn't take any pics of characters on my last (my only) WDW half, but if I see someone or something that catches my fancy, I will stop. I just want to finish. :)
I was surprised how many people did...and waited in line even!
Thanks for the vote of confidence :D

We have a great plan in place to build up to the longest run I will ever do!!!
We are excited...we feel great...we can't wait!
My goal remains 5:00:00 for the whole, but as long as I finish and get to take that Mickey medal home...I will call it a victory! (I will just change the subject if anyone asks how I did...lol. :D)
Great job WWDRH! I know that it feels good to get that first one behind you. There are no longer any questions in your mind as to whether you can do it or not because you proved that you can.
I finished the Wine and Dine half last weekend with one of my poorer half times of 2:02:56. Based on the 1:51:46 that I did in last Januarys half I was shooting for a 1:50:00, but it just wasn't to be. I felt great through about the first 8 miles but began running out of gas very quickly after that. I need to reevaluate the possible causes. Maybe it was just the time of day (or night I should say) usually by 10:00pm I am asleep so maybe that just isn't a good time for me to start a half. I am still using 4:30:00 as a goal for the full in January. I'll see if that needs to be modified as we get closer to the race date.
Again, congrats to you and Mrs WWDRH for getting that first half behind you.

Don't ever run you times down lads. Just sit back and say well at least I did it, there are more people that could do it and have not than those who take up the challenge.

I completed my half in October in a time of 3.13. I thought it would take me 3.15 so I was 2minutes quicker WHOO HOO :goofy_bounce: :goofy_bounce:
I am a happy bunny I know now I can do it within the Disney time span and next year I will be fitter and faster the only down side to that is I will also be a year older.

Thanks, guys. Like I said, I wasn't too worried about my time in that race...it was just training miles to me :D
We did 16 yesterday--- yikes!! I won't lie...it was rough for the last mile or so, but we got through it. It was 2 miles longer than I had ever run before.
Next weekend 18 miles! Ugh. The things I do for a trip to see the Mouse!
I guess I shouldn't eat too much turkey :)

Keep on keepin' on everyone!

Sounds like maybe you should eat MORE turkey. That way you'll have enough energy to do all 18 miles ;)

Nice job WWDRH! Let us know how the 18 went. I'm still training for my 3. Knees are starting to bother me a little, but I won't let it stop me!

Ok so 18 is in the books! Right on my same pace for 16 miles AND my last years' WDW half. So if I can do that same pace for the whole it will be just shy of 5 hrs...which is fine with me.

Next week is a "rest week" doing only 12 miles. :D

I look forward to running the 5k with you my "brother from another mother." :)

Getting close now. How are y'all doing?
I am definitely feeling the distance now. This is the furthest I have ever run before. Every week is a new record for Mrs. WWDRH and me...
There are times when I wonder what i have gotten into!! :D

Wow ~ that is great H! Is 18 the furthest distance you run during training or will you get even higher?
Y'all are doing wonderful on your training :D

We will run 22 (!) on our longest training run.
Here is our schedule for the remainder of training:
12 miles this weekend, then 20, 14, 22, 12, 8 (for tapers).
Then supposedly :D we will be ready for 26.2! We shall see.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Amy. :)

Wow ~ I couldn't remember what all the mileages were. My brother gave me a schedule once upon a time...maybe someday :D
Keep up the good work! I may not be a runner, but I can certainly appreciate the dedication needed to train for a marathon. Cheering others on makes me feel like I'm participating just a teeny bit ;)

I'm starting to freak out!! I hurt my right knee about a month ago at this point. I finished SA 2 weeks ago and haven't run since. I had an MRI on my knee on Wednesday but don't have the results in yet. I'm hoping to get those in the next few days. Unfortunately the balance on our Disney reservation is due tomorrow. I kept thinking if the worst has happened I can look at transferring my race entrance to next year, but with the balance due tomorrow it looks like I'm running no matter what. Thankfully the race has a 7 hour limit, so even if I walk 1/2 of it because of my knee I think I can finish.

Arrgh, but I didn't want to finish, I wanted to beat 4:30. If I'm not better soon, I don't know how much training I'm going to be able to get back in.
Please keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle until the ride comes to a full and complete stop. Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your day here at Walt Disney World.

Oh no  Can you transfer the entry fee to another runner? Hopefully you will get some good news from the MRI!

Man, this really stinks! How bad did you hurt your knee? How did it feel running on it in your last race 2 weeks ago? How did it feel for the 2-3 days following the race? IF you can go on it in January with just limited training between now and then, I would think that you could still coast along at a 12-13 minute per mile pace and still finish under 6:00:00 including a couple of walk breaks. Again, that is IF you can go at all. I hate it for you man. There is alot of time and expense that you have already put into this, not counting the emotional let down. Best of luck to you. Let us know what you find out on the MRI.

Sorry about the injury. That's happened to me before. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Don't rush back into it. Try to stay positive: if you go slower, you'll have more time to enjoy the entertainment on the route. Obviously there are plenty of walkers for the event, so you won't be left alone. Good luck!

I hate all these injuries everyone is having!
You should see me at work avoiding every odd situation just so I don't twist a knee or sprain an ankle. Lol
:)
20 is in the books! We will do 14 this weekend and 22 next (Yes Christmas weekend!) then taper...
My pace was meh, but I did it!

Thats what I want from the actual race...just to finish...
How is everyone doing?
