Behind The Scenes Look at The Living Seas

Post by SeasDiver » Oct Wed 03, 2012 5:57 am

Hey All,

I just had an interview published via the From the Mouth of the Mouse column over on MiceAge. It provides some behind the scenes info from the Living Seas Science Diver programs in the mid 90's. It also has some internship pictures and a video of the divers view from the lockout chamber.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to post them. :nemo: Diving/Disney  is always a favorite topic.
Regards,
Aaron

That was very cool to read Aaron! Did you ever get the opportunity to dive as Mickey Mouse? It seems like it would be more difficult performing a dive in a big costume like that.

As mentioned in my article, Mickey is not very dextrous (nor streamlined) in the water, hence the need for two dive buddies... I got to dive with Mickey 17 times, but did not make the experience cutoff to be fully certified as his primary dive buddy due to a lack of opportunities.

Was the CM that performed as Mickey one of the most experienced of the divers?

That was a very interesting read! I bet it was a great experience. I would have loved to work with the manatees (one of my favorite animals!).

The manatees were fun to work with, but are very flatulent. And nose plugs don't exactly portray the right image while talking with people
