Early speculation is mermaids but since it will not be shut down for long it can't be that big. Any thoughts?? Any insight packwingfn/Soarin???

it wouldnt take long to install a static display of mermaids... hardest would be the installation of mounting hardware underwater, without draining the canal...

I wonder if it will be projections of mermaids on the water, kind of like the Magic, Memories and You show.

They might have done, if it's figures, the install over multiple nights, but the part that is actually seen could be released the next day.

Do you guys have the fog waterfall with Davey Jones and Blackbeard?

Right after the projection apparently, they put a mermaid corpse and a projection (possibly also a mechanical splash)

Nope, it didn't close down during the day. They made the changes overnight.

The only thing I noticed different on Pirates was that the misty "vapor fall" that used to have Davy Jones now has Blackbeard - right at the start of the ride. I didn't notice the mermaid corpse. But then again, I wasn't looking critically at the differences, either, just enjoying one of my favorites.
